Russell Gary Dykes
Russell Gary Dykes, 57, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 15, at the Veterans Hosoital in Wichita.
A private family services will be held at a later date. Gary will be cremated at his request and buried with his mother at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
He was born June 24, 1951 in Leonardtown, Md. to Velma Mary (Howard)
Dykes and T. Belmont Burbage Dykes.
Gary was a retired aircraft mechanic and served
three years in the United States Army.
Gary enjoyed all types of music, dancing, playing the harmonica, reading and cooking. He was a loyal friend and enjoyed visiting with his friends and family and he had a great love for children. Gary had training as a nurse’s aide and put this to use providing loving care to his mother,
brother and companion during lengthy periods of their illness. Gary was a member of the Jazz Association and had a “special” love for soul and jazz music. Gary will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by: his brother, Bert Howard Dykes and sister, Ann Brown, both of Augusta; half-sister, Maribelle Ruth Greer Brownlee of Houston, Texas; three nieces, Paula Kay Catlett, Rhonda Greer Bergamini, Robyn Greer; nephew, Jared
Lane Dykes; great- niece, Kyla Kay Catlett; one great-nephew, Tanner Bergamini; numerous other extended family members.
Gary was preceded in death by an infant sister Rita, both of his parents, and long time companion, Sherry L. Jones.

Carmen Barber
Carmen Virginia (Mueller) Barber, 72, Augusta, retired homemaker and nurses aid, passed away Sunday, Jan. 10, 2009.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Augusta First United ■ Methodist Church with Rev. Curtis Cadenhead officiating.
Carmen was born on May 21,1936 in Hugoton, Kan. She married Charles Lennin Barber on March 16, 1955 in Wichita. Charles and Carmen traveled extensively to several countries because of his work with the U.S. Government.
Survivors include: her spouse, Charles of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Mike Emert of Easton, Pa.; daughter-in-law, Kathy Barber of Shreveport, La.; grandchildren, Amy, Allison, Jared and Kiersten.
Carmen was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Brent Allen Barber.
Arrangements by Dunsford-Zeiner Funeral Home, Augusta.
