Edward L. “Ed” Brattain

Edward L. "Ed" Brattain, 83, retired Beech utility employee, of Augusta, passed away Wednesday, March 15 2009.
Graveside service 11 a.m. Friday, March 20, at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta. Those attending should use the Ohio street entrance.
Edward was born in Stillwater, Okla, on Sept. 11, 1920, the son of the
late William Franklin and Florence May (Leach) Brattain.
He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. On Feb.6, 1956 he married Alma
Rose Tabor in Miami, Okla.. She preceded him in death in 1963.
He is survived by: daughter, Linda Brattain-Rogers and husband John of Augusta; and grandson Bill Rogers.
He was also preceded in death by brother, Gordon Brattain and sister, Wanda Jean Flora.
Family suggests donations to Multiple Sclerosis Society or American Heart Association.

John B. “Jay” McDaniel

John B. "Jay" McDaniel, Jr. 75, of Augusta, passed away, Tuesday, March 10, 2009.
Memorial service 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Burial will be at Abilene Cemetery, Abilene, Kan.
John was born in Ottawa, Kan. on Aug. 18, 1933; the son of the late John B. McDaniel Sr. and Mildred Elizabeth
(Turner) McDaniel. He graduated from Kansas State University and retired as a geologist from Allied Labs division of Professional Engineering Consultants. John served in the U.S. Army during
Korean War and was a member of the
Augusta VFW post. On April 5, 1953 he married Dorothy "Jeanne" (Morris) in Abilene and she survives]
He is also survived by: son, Robert McDaniel and wife Karla of Chandler, Ariz.; daughters, Carla Reida and fiance Chris
Lesniak of Trophy Club, Texas, and Lisa Williams and husband Gayle of Springfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Abby, Rachel, Melissa, Kyle, Doug, Michael and Kari; and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert E. McDaniel.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or Augusta Meals on Wheels.
