Vernon Pressnell

C. Vernon Pressnell, 78, o'f Augusta, passed away,
Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009. Viewing 1-8 p.m. Friday with family to greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Services will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22,2009 at the First Baptist Church, Augusta.
Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Vernon was born in Dodge City, Kan. on July 26,1931; the son of Frank and Ollie (Schales) Pressnell.
He worked for Mobil Pipeline and was a self employed general contractor who also owned a Mobil Service Station.
Vernon was a member of First Baptist Church, Augusta; Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge #74, Augusta: Wichita
Consistory and Butler County Shriners. He also enjoyed farming and cattle ranching.
He served in the Army during the Korean War also.
On Nov. 22, 1951 he married his beloved wife Esther L. (Groom) in Wichita and she preceded him in death on Oct. 3, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
He is survived by: sons, Robert Pressnell and wife June; Richard Pressnell and wife Debra; Ronald Pressnell and wife Paula all of Augusta; Roger Pressnell and wife Joyce; and Rodney Pressnell and wife Rita both of Leon;
a daughter, Rita Ramsey and husband Robert of Augusta; sister, Mildred Beye of Augusta; 16 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
