Marilynn S. Skaer
Marilynn S. (Marten) Skaer, 65, loving wife, mother and grandmother
of Augusta, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 8,2009, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Viewing 1-7 p.m. Friday with family to greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Service
11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009 at the Augusta Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Marilynn was born in Winfield, Kan. on April 16, 1944; the daughter of the late Wilbur P. and Clara (Harget) Marten. After graduating from Derby High School, she attended Kansas University to study nursing and graduated from the first nursing program at Butler County Community College in 1967. Marilynn then worked as a nurse at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital and Dr. Kasse-
baum’s office in El Dorado. On March 21, 1971 she married Robert Skaer at the Lutheran Church in El Dorado and he survives.
She is also survived by: sons, Justin Skaer and wife Joli of Douglass, Marten Skaer and wife Julie, and Brady Skaer and wife Krissy, all of Augusta; brother, Marty Marten and wife Jody of Longmont, Colo; and grandchildren, Joseph, Kora, Colten, Anna, Libbi and Heidi Skaer.
Memorials to the Marilynn S. Skaer Memorial Scholarship Fund to benefit her grandchildren.

Marjorie “Marge” Thomas
Marjorie A. "Marge" Thomas, 81, loving wife of nearly 63 years, mother,
grandmother and great-grandmother, of Augusta, passed away Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009 after a long and courageous fight with illness.
Viewing 1-6 p.m. Sunday, with family to greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m.; service 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, all at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta.
Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery Augusta, Kansas.
Marge was born on May 17, 1928 in Sedgwick Township, Kan. to Joe and Gladys Phillips. On Nov. 15, 1946 she married her high school sweetheart Bill Thomas and soon made their life in Augusta.
For 25 years, Marge worked as the office manager at Criss Optical Manufacturing and retired in 1990.
Marge is survived by her husband, Bill; daughters, Brenda Sawyers; and Billie (Jim) Easton; grandchildren, Michelle Sawyers, Kim Sawyers, Lonnie Dwyer and Courtney (Kelly) Mayfield; great-grandchildren, Dakota Arredondo, Mady-lan and Lilliah Mayfield, Reece Sawyers, and Courtney Dwyer; and several special nephews and nieces in her extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Hazel Baldwin
brother, Wayne Phillips, and a great grandson, Dylan Mayfield.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hope Community Church Bullfrogs and Butterflies Preschool Program c/o Sharron Weldon 1831 E. 21st Street Andover, Kansas 67002.
