Raymond Travis
Raymond Tennyson Travis, 92, Shell Knob, Mo., formerly of Augusta, retired Southwestern Bell Telephone engineer, died on Sunday, Sept. 27, at his home in Shell Knob.
Burial will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, in Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta. Those attending should use the 12th Street entrance.
Raymond, the son of Osa Brenner Travis and Guy Raymond Travis, was born in Wichita and graduated from Wichita North High School in 1935.
He was a WWII combat veteran, attaining the rank of 2nd Lieutenant while serving as a bom-bardier/navigator in the Army Air Corp with the
451st Bomb Group. Raymond had a long career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company until his retirement in 1976.
After retirement, Ray and Donna spent several years at the front desk of Lehr’s Motel in Augusta.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Donna Chester Travis.
His survivors include: sons, Gary (Nancy) Travis of Arkansas City, Jim (Charlotte) Travis of Shell Knob, Mo.; cousin, Jack (Betty) Taylor of Augusta was like a brother to Raymond; 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren will miss Grandpa Ray.
Ray was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, travel, and trading cars. He especially enjoyed watching the Young and the Restless, which kept him in suspense until his final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorialgifts be sent to Mercy St. Johns Hospice, 214 Carter St., Berryville, AR 72616, or in care Dunsford-Zeiner Funeral Home, Augusta.

Carol M. Moore, 73, Wichita, Maize Schools employee, died on Monday, Sept. 28, 2009.
Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. today; service at 1
p.m. Thursday, both at Hillside Funeral Home West, Wichita.
Survivors include: husband, Darrel; daughters, Meredith (Kenny) Helton of Augusta, Karma (Tim) Onstott, Jeannie (John) Frye, Joleen (Kim) Blak-enship; brother, Willis Kenyon; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.
Memorials to Victory in the Valley.
