Audine Miller

Ura Audine Miller, 98, of Andover, employed as a bookkeeper for Prairie State Bank of Augusta, Soencer-Safford Loadcraft
and White Eagle Credit Union before retirement, entered eternal rest Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov.
30, 2009 at First Christian Church, Augusta with the Reverend Penny Goldberg presiding. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
She was born on June 22,1911 in Rose Hill, Kan. to Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Cummings. She went to school in Rose Hill until she was 11 years old. Then the family moved to Augusta, where she graduated from high school.
She then attended Wichita Business College before beginning her career. Audine married Sam W.
Miller on June 4,1932 in Augusta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam; sister, Bee Clinger; brother, Orville Cummings; a granddaughter, Diane Thompson and her parents.
Sam and Audine are survived by: son, Jack (Darken) of Andover; grand-daughter, Wendy Carpenter (Mike) of Golden, Colo., as well as great-grandchildren, Hannah Storrer and Nicole Thompson of Denver; step-grandchildren, Roger Scholfield (Jaki) and their children, Maddy & A. J.; Randy Scholfield (Karla) and their children, Connor and Anna;
Robinn Scholfield and her daughter, Kelsey.
Memorials to the First Christian Church 1600 State Street Augusta, KS 67010 or Hospice Care of Kansas 206 E. Central El Dorado, KS 67042.
Audine will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her for her beautiful smile, charm, grace, thoughtfulness and generosity. She was a steadfast friend and had a knack for being a good listener and willing helper in times of need.

James E. “Jim” Wolken

James E. “Jim” Wolken, 73, truck driver and farmer, of Augusta passed away Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009 at Headley Funeral Chapel. Augusta.
Jim was born Feb. 26, 1936 in Humbolt, Kan.; the son of the late Clarence and Lorraine (Nold) Wolken. On March 14,1979 he married Rama (Carter) Elliott in Miami, Okla, and she survives.
He is also survived by: sons, Wes Wolken and wife Alma, Rick Wolken both of Wichita, Sean Elliott and wife Sonya and Randy Certain and
wife Bernie, both of Augusta; daughters, Kathy Nogh and husband John of South Africa, Susan Smith and husband Clint of Rose Hill,
Kelly Hegi and husband Dan, and Polly Elliott and husband David Anglemeyer both of Augusta;
brother, Charles Wolken of Park City, Greg Wirths of Augusta and Mike Wirths of Mulvane; 30 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Kathy Schneider

Kathy Schneider, 55, of Augusta, beloved mother, daughter, sister and aunt passed
away peacefully following a long illness with Alzheimer's disease, Thursday, Nov, 26, 2009.
Viewing 1pm until 7 pm rosary, Monday at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. At 3 pm the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy will be recited. A Mass will be celebrated 10 am Tuesday,
Dec. 1, 2009 at St. James Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery Augusta, Kansas. Kathy was born in Wichita, Kansas on September 5,1954; the daughter of Frank Andrew and Mary Jane (Heuvel-man) Schneider. She worked as a hospital coder, A. R. T., and medical records supervisor at Augusta Medical Complex, Catholic Center for the Aging, Wesley Medical Center, Wichita Surgical Specialists, Via Christi, and Riverside Hospital. Kathy was a lifelong member of St. James Catholic Church, and an active member of St. James Alter Society, music ministry
and Eucharistic ministry. She is survived by son, Donald R. "Donnie" Hagebusch, Jr.; mother, Mary Jane Schneider;
brother, Michael Schneider and wife Patricia; sisters, Laurie Canfield and husband David; Marcia Schneider Hime; Marilyn Runyan and husband John; and Theresa Winter and husband Karl all of Augusta;
numerous nieces & nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank and an infant brother, Joseph. Memorials to St. James Catholic Church in honor of Kathleen 1012 Belmont Avenue Augusta, Kansas 67010.

Sarrah E. Pate

Sarrah Emiline Pate, 89, homemaker, of Arkansas City, died Nov. 24, 2009.
Visitation from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, at the Hawks-Shelley Funeral Home & Crematory in Arkansas City. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Parker Cemetery.
She is survived by her four sons: Robert “Bob” (Karen) Pate of Arkansas City, David (Patsy) Pate of Augusta, Don (Martha) Pate of Arkansas City, and Steve (Becky) Pate of Arkansas City, 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild.
A memorial has been established with the Pencil Box Fund of the Shelton Beaty American Legion Post #18 Ladies Auxiliary. Contributions can be left with the funeral home.
