Joe Newman

Joe Newman, 76,
Augusta and formerly of Wichita, passed away Monday, Jan.
11,2010.
Viewing 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15 and service 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, both at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta.
Joseph was born in Washunga, Okla, on Sept. 21,1933, the son of the late Joseph Alfred and Goldie Ethel (McCleary) Newman. He worked as a tool and die maker for Boeing and Cessna, was a gold miner in Alaska, and a truck driver for Arctic Freight. He also served in the U.S. Army. Joe was a member of the Derby Masonic Lodge #365.
He is survived by: sons, Loyd Newman of San Francisco, Calif, and John Scobee and wife Holli of Augusta; brother, Terry Newman of Arkansas City; sisters,
Mary Michalek of Gibso-nia, Penn., Winnifred Lester of Ponca City, Okla., Norma Knoles of Apple Valley, Calif., and Peggy Hatcher of Haysville; grandson, Dakota Scobee.
He was preceded in death by son Joe Lee Newman; daughters, Cathy LuAnn Newman and Anetta Lyn Newman; brothers, Steven, Melvin and John Newman.

James Morris

James Edward Morris, 58, self-employed remodeler, Augusta, passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2010.
Viewing and visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, at Dunsford-Zeiner Funeral Home, Augusta.
James was born Feb.
16,1951 to George E. and Ellen F. (West) Morris in Wichita. Jim was a U.S. Army Vietnam vet-
eran. He married Mary Vivian McAllister on Dec. 31,1991, in the Leon Christian Church.
James is survived by: his wife Mary of the home; mother, Ellen Morris of Augusta; daughters, Jamie (Dave) Cope of Greenback, Tenn. and Jennifer (Bob) Baugher of Augusta; brothers, Mike and Dave Morris of Wichita; sisters, JoEllen Martin and Teresa Morris both of Wichita and Pat (Larry) Bishop of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; six grandchildren, Noah, Grace, Lindsay, Wesley, Ashly and Geoffrey.
Preceded in death by his father.
Memorials to Hospice Care of Kansas, Disabled American Veterans or the Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
