Marlin “Mark” Swartz
Marlin “Mark” Swartz, 50, El Dorado, formerly of Augusta, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at his home.
Graveside service was
held this morning at Walnut Valley Memorial Park, with celebration of life service at 11 a.m. at Temple Baptist Church, El Dorado.
Mark was born on Jan. 23,1960 in Newton, the son of Howard and Doris (Eck) Swartz. He graduated from Augusta High School in 1978 and had worked for Cessna where he was a jig builder.
Mark and his family had lived in El Dorado for the past year moving from Augusta. He loved to study and memorize the Bible, reading; spending time with his family and friends, playing games and being outdoors.
On Dec. 22,1979 he married Judy Henman in Wichita.
Those he leaves includes: his wife of the home; his children, Re-bekah Jackson and husband Charles, Elizabeth Morris and husband Kellen, all from El Dorado, Timothy Swartz and wife Amber of Wichita, David Swartz of Lenexa; his mother Doris Swartz, Augusta; sisters and their spouses,
Yvonne and Richard Claassen, Whitewater; Donna and Terry Butler, Andover; Debbie and Stan Zuercher, Whitewater, Susan and Wayne
Bixel, Bluffton, Ohio; a brother and wife, Howard and Linda Swartz, of Andover; seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Howard and a sister Dianna.

Muril McKnight

Muril McKnight, 83, Augusta,
passed away Friday, Feb. 12,2010 after a short illness.
Closed casket visitation 5-7 p.m. this evening and funeral service 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, all at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Muril was born June 4, 1926 in Roy, Mo., the son of the late Bethal and Faye (Sawyer) McKnight. He was a retired car dealer having owned a Ford dealership in Augusta. He was also a WWII U.S. Army veteran.

On July 24,1947 he married Wanda (Swearengin) in Missouri and she preceded him in death on June 23, 2001.
He is survived by: a brother, Marvin McKnight and wife Jo Ann of Ashton, ILL; nephew, Mike McKnight of Chicago, ILL; niece, Eris Mouton and
husband Rene of Houston, Texas; nephews, Floyd Hurst and wife Sue of Rogersville, Mo. and Barry Hurst of Joplin, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Maxine Brixey and husband Elwood of Augusta.

Gary Robert Purk

Gary Robert Purk, 63, Douglass, retired Boeing employee, died on Thursday, Feb. 11,2010.
Visitation 1-8 p.m., with family from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday; funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, all at Smith Mortuary in Derby.
Survivors: wife : Eileen; daughter, Tracey (Rick) Sims of Andover; stepson, Keith (Chris) Walker, Wichita; brother, Earl Purk, Wellington; sister, Wanda Burnett, Austin, Texas; four grandchildren.

James L. Schenk

James L. Schenk, 65, Wichita, U.S. Navy veteran, died on Wednesday, Feb. 10,2010. Funeral service was held today at St. Anne’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include: wife, Beatrice; children, Melissa (Robert) Thomas of Douglass, Cathie (Adam) Winters, Cynthia Schenk, all of Wichita; brothers, Robert (Susan) Schenk, John (Irene) Schenk, and Philip (Vicky) Schenk; sisters, Carolyn (Pete) Lauflin, Mary Lou Cooke, Joanne (Larry) Ehrlick, Virginia Black, Theresa (Mike) Green, and Jacque Schenk; four grandchildren.

B. Ruth Kuhn

B. Ruth (Harmon) Kuhn, 83, retired CNA, Hosington, Kan., passed away on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010.
Visitation from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, and 9 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18, at Nichol-son-Ricke Funeral HOme in Hosington.
Her survivors include: husband, Robert Kuhn, Springfield, Mo.; sons, Rick Alan Loftis, Willis-ton, N.D., Robert D. Kuhn, Branson, Mo., and Thomas A. Kuhn of Augusta; daughters, E. Darlene Loomis, Brighton, Colo., and Charlotte A. Linsner, Walker, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 21 greatgrandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.
