Opal Jean (Clark)Melton was born Dec. 29, 1932. She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend to many. After a full and happy life she passed away at her home on May 26, 2010.
She is survived by: her husband of 55 years, LC Melton, Augusta; son, David (Marjorie), Augusta; two granddaughters, Charissa (Mike) Williams, Hughes Spring, Texas and Chara (Brian) Skahan, Bel Aire; three great-grandsons, Michah and Caleb Williams and Bryce Skahan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry R. and Lenora Belle (Clay) Clark; four brothers, John, Pete, Edward and Leonard;
sister, Lorene (Clark) Hem-brough; and son Mark.
Visitation 5-7 p.m. Monday, May 31, at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Service 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.

Richard S. Bassett, 76, of Kearney, Neb., and father of Elease J. Kubis of Andover, passed away May 23,2010.
Funeral service was held this morning at the Arnold Baptist Church, Arnold.
