ROY T. EVANS .. .Wednesday funeral
Former Mayor, Roy T. Evans, Dies At Home
Roy Thomas, Evans, 70, 1706 Simset, former Augusta mayor died Sunday at his home.
His funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Father David Cushing will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born Aug. 15, 1913 in Grand Island, Neb., to Charles T. and Harriett Hennick Evans.
He married Meta Margaret Carney April 15, 1939 in Omaha, Neb. She survives.
Evans graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1935 with a chemical engineering degree.
He began working with Mobil Oil Dec. 1, 1941. He was a retired chief chemical engineer and a retired Mobil environmental supervisor.
He served as mayor of Augusta from 1956 to 1959.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Strasser of Three Mile Bay, N.Y., and Joan Carney of San Jose, Calif., and eight grandchildren.

Alvin R. Wulf Died In Wichita
Alvin R. Wulf, 66, Cheney, father of Janelle Ledgerwood of Augusta, died Sunday at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Church of Christ in Cheney. Robert Fleming will officiate and burial will be in the North Cheney Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Trinity United Church of Christ in Cheney.
He was born Oct. 21, 1917 in Cheney to William A. and Christina Oehlert Wulf.
He married Jennie Marie Sponenberg. She survives.
He was a retired Cessna Aircraft Co. employee.
Survivors also include sons, Brent of Aurora, Colo., and Craig of Wichita; another daughter, Nancy Hum of Mount Vernon, Mo.; sisters, Minnie Burroughs of Mexico, Mo., Lydia Juergensen and Edna Henrichs, both of Humboldt, and nine grandchildren.

Muriel Downey Dies In Topeka
Muriel Joy Downey, 65, Topeka, formerly of Douglass, died March 11 at a hospital there.
Graveside services were at 11 a.m. today at the Douglass Cemetery. Rev. Janet Sevier officiated.
She was born Jan. 25, 1919 in Douglass to Thomas M. and Clara E. Hudson Downey.
She was a retired teletype operator.
Survivors include a brother, Tom Kenneth Downey of Rockville, Md., and several nieces and nephews.
Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass was in charge of arrangements.

Ralph Chapin Dies In Tulsa
Ralph Chapin, 80, brother of former Augusta resident Edna Chapin, died Monday at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa, Okla.
His funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Chapel in Tulsa.
Chapin was retired from the Bell Telephone Co.
Surviving are his wife, Blanche; his sister, Edna Chapin of Wichita; several nephews and one niece.

Myrtle Hotchkiss Died In Manhattan
Myrtle L. Hotchkiss, 94, Route 2, Leon, died Tuesday, March 13 at St. Mary's Hospital in Manhattan.
Her funeral will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Latzke Chapel of the First Methodist Church near Manhattan. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday at Elmwood Cemetery here.
Myrtle Hotchkiss was born Nov. 21, 1889, in Wilcox, Ariz., to Elias Axe and Clari Kohn Jones. She married Roy C. Hotchkiss, who preceded her in death in 1967. She lived in Manhattan nine years.
She belonged to the Leon chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a daughter, Irene Davis of Manhattan; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a nephew.
Memorials may be sent to the Kansas 4-H Foundation.
Cowan, Edwards, Yorgensen Funeral Home in Manhattan has charge of arrangements.

Mrs. B.W. Thomas Dies In St. Louis
Mrs. Burres W. Thomas, 89, the wife of a former pastor of the First Christian Church of Augusta, died Wednesday, March 14, at her home in St. Louis, Mo.
Memorial services will be Sunday at Bopp Mortuary in St. Louis.
Surviving are her husband and three children.
