Earl Leon Mercer

Ret. Colonel Earl Leon Mercer, 88, of Clyde Texas, died Friday, May|
21, 2010, in Abilene, Texas..
Memorial graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18,2010 at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta. Those attending should use the Ohio Street entrance.
Mr. Mercer was born March 7,1922, in Augusta, to Roy Earl and Mary Fern (Sells) Mercer. On Nov. 4, 1946 he married Louise Clemons in El Paso, Texas, at the Ft. Bliss Army Chapel. Mr. Mercer was a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force serving as an Intelligence Officer, Navigator, Bombardier and Pilot. He served during World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the Cold War.
Mr. Mercer is survived by his wife Louise of Clyde Texas; three daughters, Pam Willson and husband Phil of Clyde, Texas, Deby Kyle and husband Wayne of Hamilton, Texas, and Ann Mercer of Abilene, Texas; three grandchildren, Chris Kyle and wife Taya, Andy Orrell and wife Penny, and Jeff Kyle and wife Amy; four greatgrandchildren, Colton Kyle, McKenna Kyle, Morgan Orrell and Tyson Orrell; niece, Jill Mercer of Wichita; nephew, Lynn Powers and wife Vickie of Wichita; and brother-in-law, Rodney Powers of Wichita.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Danny Orrell; one brother, John F. Mercer; and one sister Wanda Fern Power.

Ella Bell Miller

Ella Bell Miller, 93, Augusta, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 14,2010.
Graveside service 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at Elmwood Cemetery. Those attending should use the 12th St. entrance.
Ella was born in Augusta on Aug. 25,1917, the daughter of the late Thomas and Una Patterson Taylor. She retired as a school teacher. On Oct. 24,1942, she married Marvin Miller and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by: sons, Rex Miller and wife Rose of Wichita and Mark Miller and wife Gena of Augusta; grandchildren, Shawn, Candace, Rex Eric, Karissa; several great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by brother, Thomas and George; sisters, Rosalie Powers, Helen Aurenhiemer, Juanita Malan, Lorena Taylor and June Taylor.
