Jean Dyer
H. Jean Dyer, 68, El Dorado, left too soon on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011.
A celebration Dyer of her life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at the El Dorado Civic Center, 201 E. Central, El Dorado.
Jeannie, or “D” as her friends called her, was born on Jan. 11,1943 in Wichita and grew up in and around Rosalia, Kan.
Jeannie always wanted to be a teacher and became one of the very best. She graduated with her degree in education from Wichita State University and spent nearly 35 years teaching kindergarten and first grade at Rosalia Grade School and Bluestem Elementary School.
She made friends with everyone she met and was always ready with her trademark smile, a hug, or a “How ya doin’ kiddo.” Her fun-loving spirit will live on in her grandkids and the hundreds of students who were lucky enough to have Mrs. D. for their teacher.
Survivors include: her husband of 45 years, Jon; her parents, Wendell and Hazel Borger of Rosalia; children, Holly Dyer (Gary Owens) of Wichita, and Mark Dyer (Michele Luther) of El Dorado; grandchildren, Alex, Chloe, and Satchel Owens, and Aspen and Ford Dyer.
The family requests no flowers and suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Bluestem Elementary School Library 500 S. Bluestem Dr. Leon KS. 67074.
Kirby-Morris Funeral Home, El Dorado, has charge of the arrangements and memories may be left at www.kirby-morrisfuneralhome.com.
