Letha was born Dec. 23,1919, at Waynoka, Okla, to Amos and Virgie Lyons. She spent her childhood in the Freedom, Okla. area. On June 21, 1940, she married Noble Knapp. They raised a son and a daughter and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary before Noble passed away in December 2005.
She was preceded in death by her husband and eight brothers and sisters.
She is survived by: her son, Forrest Duane (Jimna) Knapp of Augusta, and her daughter, Karen K. Warstler, of Peoria, Ariz.; grandsons, Bill Warstler, Gilbert, Ariz., Adam Knapp, Andover, and Jeff Knapp, Augusta; granddaughters, Rebecca (Buddy) Dudko, Phoenix, Ariz., and Andrea (Corey) Lan-dreth, El Dorado; nine great-grand-children; a sister, Evelyn Nicewarner of Siloam Springs Ariz.; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Letha and Noble owned and operated a Skelly service station in LaJunta, Colo. (1945-1951), then purchased the Electrified Water Co. in Wichita, which they operated until their retirement in 1972. They retired to Eureka, where they enjoyed gardening, going to Bluegrass Festivals, and traveling to visit friends and family. In 2000 Noble had a stroke and they moved to Augusta to be with their son and family. Letha was a loving caregiver until his death five years later. In 2005 she began spending winters in the Phoenix area with her daughter. She said she had the best of both worlds, enjoying the sunshine in the winter and the summer in Kansas.
