Alta ‘Jane’ Carr

Alta "Jane" (Howard) Carr, 76, Douglass, passed away, Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Medicalodge of Douglass.
Viewing will be from 1-5 p.m., and with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m., on Wednesday,
April 6. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 7, both at Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta. Interment to follow in the Douglass Cemetery.
Jane was born May 24, 1934, to Fred and Ethel (Wheeler) Howard in Rock, Kan. Jane retired as a legal secretary from McConnell Air Force Base. She once owned and operated The Rock Cafe in Rock, Kan.
Survivors include: her son, Alan Carr of Kansas
City, Mo.; a daughter, Becky (Mark) Hall of Augusta; brother, Lloyd (Vera) Howard of Douglass; sisters, Pauline Houser of Arkansas City, Edna Maness of Bonner Springs, Kan., Mildred Maddox of Wichita, Catherine (Jack) Meyer of Rock, Ann (Ray) Tabor of Clearwater, Fla.; sister-in-law, Bea Howard of Saraland, Ala.; two grandchildren, Wade and Taylor Hall.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Raymond and Paul Howard and a granddaughter, Gracie Jane Hall.
A memorial fund has been established with Heartland Hospice in care of the funeral home.

Jackie Moore

Jackie Laverne Moore, age 76, U.S. Air Force veteran and owner of J & W Transport Company, of Augusta, died Friday, April 1,2011.
Graveside service at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 7, in the Fort Scott National Cemetery. Family and friends may meet at Cheney Witt Chapel in Fort Scott, prior to leaving for the cemetery at 1:15 p.m.
Survivors include: his wife Dorothy, of the home; his mother, Gertrude Moore, Fort Scott; two sons, Michael Moore and wife Michelle, Seattle, Wash., and Shawn Moore, Augusta; brother, Benjamin Moore, Riverton, Kan.; three sisters, Janiece Toms, Uniontown, Kan., Sandra Hartzfeld, Bartlesville, Okla., and Phyllis Lambert, Fredonia; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Edyth Banzet, 94, of Leon, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2011.
