Bessie Thomas

Bessie Ruby Thomas, 91, Rose Hill, went to join her husband Wilmer in
heaven on Thursday, June 30, 2011.
A memorial service was held this afternoon in the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel, Augusta. Private family inurnment at a later date.
Bessie was born on Feb. 9,1920 to Scott and Vera (Hill) King in Bloomington Township, Kan. She married Wilmer Thomas on Dec. 6,1940 also in Bloomington. Bessie was a seamstress and a riveter for Beechcraft.
Her survivors include: her daughters, Vera (Tony) Bradfield of Rose Hill, Vickie (Byron)
Baum of Leon; sisters, Faye Peterson of Douglass, Marjorie Woodall of Augusta, Betty Nix of Oklahoma City, and Gail (Buddy) Scovell of Augusta; grandchildren,
Mia Lee, Micki Deb-brecht, Mike and John "Willie" Bradfield, Staci Potts, Stephanie and Melanie Baum, and Melinda Shaw; 15 greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse and a sister Evelyn Loudenslager.
A memorial has been established with the School for Deaf, 450 East Park Street, Olathe, KS 66061 or in care of the funeral home.

Olen S. Gerdes

Olen S. Gerdes, 91, of Wellington, retired U.S. Postal Service and Kansas
Turnpike Authority, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011.
Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 6, Downing & Lahey Mortuary East. Service 10 a.m., Thursday, July 7, Assembly of God, Wellington. Interment will be at 2 p.m., Thursday in Bethel Cemetery,Amorita, Okla. Olen was a WWII veteran.
Preceded in death by first wife, Eleanor.
Survivors: wife, Juanita (Troutman) Gerdes; son, Jeffrey A. Gerdes (Cathy) of Wichita; daughters, Lynette M. Brown (Raymond) of Haysville, and Christine N. McConnell (Phillip) of Augusta; stepchildren, Merlin Troutman (Delores), Donald Troutman and Richard Troutman; brother, Robert Gerdes of Salina; sister, Mary Church of Morton, Wash.; 7 grandchildren; 5 step-grand-children; 11 great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; 7 step-great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Bethel Cemetery Association, Amorita, OK,
73719.
