80, AUGUSTA

Raymond H. Bird, 80, Augusta, passed away Tuesday,Sept 20, 2011.
Viewing 6-8 p.m. Friday, at Headley Funeral Chapel and service 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Church of Christ, Augusta. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
Raymond was born in Sedgwick County on Nov. 13,1930, the son of the late Herman and Maxine Elliott (Fick) Bird. He served in the U.S. Army and he worked as a sheet metal assembler at Cessna for 30 years. On Dec. 29,1962 he married Lois (Ash) in Augusta and she survives.
He is also survived by: son, Brian Bird and wife Shannon of Augusta; daughter, Stephanie Bird of Wichita; sisters, Phyllis Bird and Geneva Collins, both of Andover, and Donna Simon of Augusta; granddaughters, Kelsey and Savannah.
He was preceded in death by brother, Gary Bird; sister, Shirley Bird.

James K. “Jim” Polk, 83, Douglass, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011.
Memorial service 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at First Christian Church, 303 E. Fourth St., Douglass.
Jim is survived by: his wife, TomElla Polk; children, Lynda (Dane) Nixon, Cheri (Bill) Bush, Carla (Lonnie) Moody, James C. Polk and Patty Polk; 9 grandchildren;
10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Raymond (Shirley) Polk and Freda (Lewis) Gillum.
