Lucretia Ann Wooton, former resident of Augusta passed away on Oct. 3,
2011, of complications related to her lengthy struggle with a rare
neurodegenerative disorder, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).
Lucretia and her husband Paul and their family lived in Augusta for 13 years before moving to Huntington Beach, CA in 1985. Lucretia taught at Robinson and Lincoln Elementary schools for 12 years and continued her teaching career for another 20 years in Pomona, CA.She became lead third grade teacher at one of the largest elementary schools in the Los Angeles area with responsibilities over as many as 14 third grade classrooms. Lucretia retired in 2006. Her struggle with PSP, for which there is no known cause, treatment or cure, lasted approximately seven years. Although Lucretia's life was memorialized at the Mission Viejo Church of Christ in California on Oct. 12, because the family has so many family and friends in the Wichita area, there will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, at the Augusta Church of Christ. Following the service will be a light lunch with family.
Lucretia is survived by: her husband Paul Wooton of Huntington Beach, CA; sons, Troy of Newport Beach, CA, Tadd of Simi Valley, CA, and Trent of Huntington Beach, CA; daughters -in - law, Shannon and Bridget; five grandchildren, Braeden, Hudson, Taylor, Finley, and Ford; her mother, Clara Maxine Woodward; siblings, Gary and Angela of Jefferson City, Mo.

Kathryn E. (Crane) Todd, 93, of Augusta, passed away on Wednesday, Nov.
23, 2011.
The funeral service was held this morning at Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Kathryn was born April 27,1918, in Memphis, Texas to Herbert Steven and Henrietta (Lane) Crane. She married Robert Dean Todd on June 14,1935, in Augusta.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, R. Dean Todd, daughter Sylvia (Todd) Hudson, and a son David Todd.
She is survived by: her daughter, Jill Boucher (Ross) of Augusta; cousin, Karen (Watson) Zinardi of Winfield, Kansas; 7 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great grandchildren.
Kathryn was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Augusta and involved in all aspects of the church, especially the music and she especially enjoyed the bell choir.
For many years she was a member of the local chapter of Hypatia Club. She taught music at many rural schools and then went on to teach private piano, violin and trumpet lessons in her home or the homes of her students. She had a joyous beautiful life. Her loss will be felt by everyone she touched with her love, big heart and dignity-in lieu of flowers a memorial has been established with the First United Methodist Church, 2420 North Ohio, Augusta, KS 67010, or in care of the funeral home.
