James January
84, SHELL KNOB, MO.
James Calvin “Jim” January, 84, of Shell Knob, Mo., passed away Tuesday,
June 5, 2012, in his home, surrounded by family.
Service was held Saturday in Shell Knob.
He was born Aug. 28, 1927, in Seminole, Okla., the son of Clinton Calvin and Ruby Lee “Feaster” January. On Feb. 2, 1946, in Emporia, he was united in marriage to Mary Nadine Powers, who survives.
Also surviving are: son, John C. January and his wife, Amy of Kansas City, Mo.; three daughters, Gemey Hobson and her husband, Lynn of Surf City, NC, Missy De-Weese and her husband, Joe of Anderson, Mo., and Angela Parker and her husband, James of Latham, Kan.; brother, Bill January of Andover; grandchildren, Jack, Joe and Molly January, Stacy Hobson, Kasey Harrison, Joe and Joshua De-Weese, Randi Stark and JefFWicke; great-grandchildren, Gunnar and Wylie DeWeese, Jillian Stark, Conner and Caylee Hobson and Abi-gayle and Lilly Harrison.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Jim grew up in Augusta. On March 5,1945, he enlisted in the United
States Coast Guard, serving as seaman, First Class, until June 22, 1946. He then went back to school and received his master’s degree in education from Wichita State University. For decades he served as an outstanding elementary school principal for the Kansas Public School System. In 1989, after his retirement, he moved to Shell Knob to make his home. Some of his favorite pastimes were golfing, fishing and watching great movies. He was an avid reader. Spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, was his greatest joy in life.

81, MANHEIM, PA.
Jerry R. Moore, 81, Manheim, Pa., passed away on June 10, 2012, at Lancaster, Pa.
A private family graveside service is planned.
He was born on Jan. 8, 1931, the son of Reed and Eleanor Moore. He graduated from Augusta High School in 1948. He was united in marriage to Virginia Russell on May 10,1955 in Fairfax, Va.
Jerry served in the United States Navy for 20 years and retired as a Lieutenant in April 1978.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include: his wife Virginia; brother, Thom and his wife Nancy; nephews, Wesley and Rusty; numerous relatives and loved ones.
Cheryl Leshley
48, AUGUSTA
Cheryl Ann Leshley, 48, of Augusta, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012 in Wichita.
Rosary 7 p.m. Wednesday and funeral mass 10 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2012, all at St. James Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Augusta.
Cheryl was born in Wichita, on Jan. 18,
1964, to Barbara Clau-dine (Davis) Madison and the late Wayne Ivan Madison. She worked as a pharmacy tech at Cooper Drug and was the lead singer in Cheryl Wayne and the Wichita Band. On Sept. 19,1987 at St. James Catholic Church in Augusta she married Hugh Leshley who survives her.
She is also survived by: her mother, Claudine of Augusta; daughter, Phoebe Leshley of the home; brothers, Wayne Madison, Jr. and wife Michelle of Wichita, and Vance Madison of Augusta; sisters, Theresa Carey and husband James of Augusta, Lisa Voss and husbandJohn of Cheney, and Kari Huffman and husband Roy of Augusta; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial donations to Augusta High School Band.
