James E. Barkley
81, Andover

James Elmer Barkley, 81, Andover, passed away, Wednesday,April 3,2013.
Visitation will be held from 3-5 pm. on Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 8, at Prairie Hills Baptist Church, 11454 SW Highway 54, Augusta. Interment will follow in Bruno Township Cemetery, Andover.
James was bom Feb. 7, 1932, to Francis and Vio-lette (Moffitt) Barkley in Green Castle, Mo. He graduated from Kansas Newman University with a business degree. James married Roberta Elaine Walker on Aug. 31,1952, in Newton, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 2012. He retired as a Major from the Air Force, and was a Vietnam War veteran. James worked as a Boeing contract negotiator.
He is survived by: his sons, James (Kathy) Barkley of Wichita, Mike (Carol) Barkley and Dennis (Larita) Barkley, all of Haysville; daughter, Linda Atkins (James Ryan) of Augusta; and Daniel Barkley (Laura Brown) of Andover; sisters, Alpha (Don) Walker of Monrovia, Calif, and Debra Barkley (James Atkins) of 29 Palms, Calif.; good friend, Mary Glamann of Derby; 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; spouse; and an infant brother, Hugh Barkley.
A memorial has been established with Prairie Hills Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.

Sherry Ann Kaye
71, LAKE ISABELLA, CALIF.

Sherry Ann (Thompson) Kaye, 71, of Lake IsIabella, Calif., a native of Augusta, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2013. Her survivors include:
two sons, Bill LeDuc and Aaron Smith; daughter, Laure Young; brother,
Tom Thompson; four grandchildren.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur C. Thompson and Louis M. (Plymate) Thompson; two sons, Tommy and Andrew, and her daughter, Aleeta.
Cremation will take place and ashes will be scattered over her children's graves.
She was loved and will be missed.

John McCandlis
60. LEON

John Ray McCandlis, 60, of Leon and formerly of Augusta, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013.
Visitation 2-4 p.m. Sunday April 7, at Headley Funeral Chapel and service 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, Augusta, with Reverend Steve Spencer officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
John was born in Wichita, Kansas on Oct. 24, 1952, to the late Faye (Humphries) and Ray McCandlis. He worked as an oil field servicer and supplyman at Hizey Oil Service & Supply for 10 years. He also worked at Safeway and IGA in Augusta and did home improvements for several years. On Oct. 14,1995 in Augusta he married Jacque (Beaumont) McCandlis, who survives him.
He is also survived by: daughter, Jami Lee Snider and husband Joe of Overland Park; sister, Hazel Jones and husband Lyle of Douglass; grandchildren, Veronica and Samantha; nieces, Rhonda and Cheryl and husband Frank; great niece, Tasha and great nephew, Josh, and fiance Nikki; great-great niece Hadlee.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
