Roger D. Smart
60, SALINA

Roger Dale Smart, 64, of Salina, passed away on May 16, 2013 after a very short battle with cancer.
Cremation has taken place; there will be no visitation.
A Memorial service will be held at 10 am, Monday, May 20, at Ryan Mortuary in Salina.
He was born May 7, 1949, to Marion and Ro-gene (DeWeese) Smart of Leon, Kan.
Roger graduated from school in Leon. He joined the United States Air Force and served a tour of duty in Vietnam. After leaving the service, he worked at Beech Aircraft in Wichita for several years. He then changed careers and began driving a truck which lasted for 35 years. He ended his truck driving career with 16 years of service to Russell Stover Candies. Roger married Jan on March 24, 1978, and shared 35 wonderful years with her.
Loved family members left behind: wife, Jan; son, Brett Sidles of Assaria; daughter, Jaelyn and husband Mike Ecton of Solomon; daughter, Una and husband Kirk Vincent of Salina; grandchildren; Danielle Cunningham, Dalton, Kinsey and
Logan Ecton, Jessica Nelson; and three greatgrandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Martha McAdoo of Wichita and brother, Terry Smart of Augusta, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by both his parents.

Veldonna Rush
77, AUGUSTA

Veldonna Rush, 77, Augusta, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17,2013, at the St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family greeting friends from to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, at the Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the First Christian Church in Augusta.
Jimmie Veldonna Rush was born on Aug, 10,1935, the daughter of James A. and Belma L. (Bucket) Nutter in Augusta. She was a 1953 graduate of Augusta High School. She was united in marriage with John Rush on Dec. 23,1954. Veldonna was a homemaker who enjoyed painting, stained glass, crochet, sewing, knitting, making jewelry, making wedding cakes and was a great cook as well as an avid genealogist. Until her retirement she was a supervisor for the Kansas Dept, of Aging.
Survivors include: her husband John Rush of the home; son, Kevin and wife Melinda of Wichita; daughter, Karen Thummel and husband Alan of Yukon, Okla.; brother, Delbert Nutter and wife Kathy of Queen Creek, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Anna Woodhams, Matthew Thummel, Allison Thummel, Jonathan
Rush and Megan Rush; three great-grandchildren, Madison Woodhams, Ashley Woodhams and Emarie Treleaven.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Paul Nutter.
Arrangements are with the Dunsford Funeral Home & Crematory of Augusta.

Marty Fennell
68, AUGUSTA

Marty Fennell, 68, of Augusta, passed away on Wednesday May 22, 2013. Private services will be held.
Marty was born on April 28,1945, to Charlie and Jane Fennell.
Survivors include: her son, Dmitri Fennell of Kansas City, Mo.; sisters, Charla Zerbe and Dana (Louie) Perez of Augusta, and Dona Dennett of Kansas City, Mo.; brother, Chuck (Karen) Fennell of Wichita.
A memorial has been established with Amedisys Hospice, 250 West Douglas, Suite 101, Wichita, KS 67202, or in care of the funeral home.
