96, ANDOVER
Anna Blanche (Grist) Ayres, 96, of Andover, passed away Wednesday,
July 3,2013.
Service was held this morning at Central Baptist Church,
Augusta. Burial followed at Indianola Cemetery in Benton.
Anna was born in Blair, Kan. on Nov. 20,1916, to the late Minnie A. (Johnston) and Walter W. Grist On May 3, 1942 at First Methodist Church in EL Dorado, she married Allan V. Ayres. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Melton W. and David C. Ayres; siblings Paul Grist Marian Christy, John Grist, Mary Snodgrass, and George Grist.
She is survived by: son, Timothy W. (Kathy) Ayres of Andover; daughters, Marilyn R. (David) Yourdon of Wichita, and Carol A. (Gerald) Borger of Augusta; siblings, Winifred (Jerald) Reed of Decatur, Ala.,Walter (Janeva) Grist of Minneapolis, Minn., Warren (June) Grist of Wichita; and Ruth Evans of Wichita; grandchildren, Darren (Donna) Borger, Heather (Shelby) Smith, Charity (Chris) Fontaine, Joshua (Desha) Ayres, John (Lindsey) Ayres and Joel (Jessi) Yourdon; great-grandchildren, Sean Borger, Valarie Gault, Wendy Friedl, Ellis, Mason, Merritt, Olivia, Paisley, Remington, Scarlett and Tinman Smith, Brodrek, Wyatt, Quincy and Izabella Yourdon, Tia and Jadyn Ayres, Aiden and Cassidy Ayres, Levi, Noah, Silas, and Claire Fontaine; great-great grandchildren, Jewel Gault, Ethan, and Hope Friedl.

James Stewart Minton, 86, died at home in Alta Loma, Calif., surrounded by loved ones, June 30, 2013.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock, Texas, with Intelligence Specialist Second Class Jared Weese, U.S. Navy performing military honors.
James was born in Lubbock, Texas on May 16, 1927, to the late Charles S. Minton and Julia Myrtle Lay Minton and spent his formative years in the agricultural region of California’s Central Valley. He enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17 and served with the Navy Seabees WWII 1944-1946. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1953 with a BS Agriculture degree. Combining his love of horticulture with his artistic talents, he began his practice in landscape architecture. As a long time resident of Lubbock, James was renowned for his signature style in landscape design and his unique ability to transform the private and commercial gardens of an arid climate into breathtaking tropical oases. His achievements were featured in publications, including Southern Living Magazine. He was married to Joyce Jackson Frey of Lubbock, Texas in 1977 and was preceded by her in death in 1985.
He is survived by: his brother, Joseph Minton and wife Terry of Bakersfield, Calif; cousin, Billie Sudderth of Lubbock, Texas; mother-in-law Evelyn Jackson, sister-in-law Francine Blunt, and brother-in-law Jim Jack-
son and wife Ann Jackson, all of Augusta; his daughter, Terri Minton Sims and husband David Powers of Bedford, Texas, along with Terri’s daughters, Laurie Sims of Denton Texas, Lydia Sims of Bedford, Texas, and Lisa Sims Fellure and husband Christopher Fellure of Raleigh, NC; greatgrandchildren, Rhiannon and Brooklyn Fellure of Raleigh, NC; his son, James H. Minton and wife Nanette Minton, and their children Mitchell, Meghan, and Marshall Minton of Fort Worth, Texas; step-children and grandchildren, Rene Frey Weese and husband Paul Weese of Kansas City, Mo. and their children Serenity Weese DeDear and husband Jamie DeDear, Jocelyn Weese, and Jared Weese, Kristy Frey Hennessey and husband Benji Hennessey of Alta Loma, Calif., and their son Timothy Hennessey, wife Tara, and daughter Emma Hennessey of Corona, CA, Brian Frey, wife Megan, and son Kyle Frey of Upland, Calif, and Erin Frey Stangel and husband Tomas Stangel of Chattanooga, Tenn.
He is preceded in death by step-grandsons, Benjamin Hennessey and Jeffery Hennessey.
He enjoyed the love of many friends and family and will be greatly missed.
