LA.‘Tubby’Knebler; 87

Lawrence A."Tubby" Knebler, 87, Augusta, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, Jan. 2,
2014.
A rosary will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5; funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday,Jan.6,2014, both at St. James Catholic Church with Father Michael Schemm officiating. Interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Lawrence was born Jan. 17, 1926, to John and Anna (Flanigan) Knebler in Schulte, Kan.. He married Mary Alley on July 8, 1946, in Wichita. She preceded him in death on April 27,1965. He married Linda Kay (Taylor) Bartel on April 11,1969, in Augusta. Tubby owned and operated Knebler Construction, Knebler Concrete, and Knebler Rock Company. He built homes and was a paving and excavating contractor.
His survivors include: his wife, Linda of the home; daughter, Jane and her husband Rick Heise; daughter-in-law, Vickie Knebler all of Augusta; step-children, Rick Bartel of Towanda and Cristy Rivers of Celebration, Fla.; grandchildren, Mary (Robin) Smith, John (Ann) Heise, Susan (Brian) Smith, Dan (Alleah) Heise, Amber (Alan) Henman, Bret (Brittney) Bartel, Adam (Kristen) Knebler, Sara (Chris) Parsons Cowley, Brandon (Kendra) Bartel, Rachel Parsons; 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary; son William "Bill" Knebler; brothers, Johnny, Leo and Dick Knebler; sisters, Marie Stockman and Irene Morrison.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with St. James Catholic Church Building Fund, 1012 Belmont, Augusta, KS 67010.

Wilma Colvin, 88

Wilma Colvin, Augusta, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, peacefully at home with her family.
The funeral service was held this morning at Christ Lutheran Church,
Augusta. Burial followed at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Wilma was born on Nov. 7,1925 in Clay Center, Kan. to Mr. and Mrs.
James Blacksher. She graduated from Clay Center High School in 1943 and on June 14, 1946 she married Glenn E.Colvin of Miltonvale, Kan. After their wedding the couple resided in Wichita, where Glenn attended the Kansas-State Chiropractic College. Upon his graduation in 1948, Glenn and Wilma moved to Augusta, where Glenn began his practice.
They remained in Augusta for the remainder of their lives.
Wilma and her husband Glenn, were founding and life-lon members of Christ Luthern Church in Augusta. Before working full time as a receptionist for her husband, WIlma was a teller and branch manager of the Augusta State Bank drive thru bank. Over 65 years as a residennt of Augusta, Wilma was active in the school activitiesof her children, her church and many women organzations, including Soroptimist, H and the Brown Bag Book Club Augusta Public Library. In Addition enjoyed attending the University of Kansas sprting Events and spending time with her family.
She is survived by: her two sons, Robe Colvin and wife Jan of Augusta, an William Colvin and wife Teresa of Overland Park, Kan.; son-in-law, Glenn Siga: of Castle Rock, Colo.; five grandchi dren she adored, Amy Nix of Denve Colo., Jeremy Colvin of Chatham, N.J Andrea Sigars of Detroit, Mich., Natha Sigars of San Antonio, Texas, and Dai ny Sigars of Independence, Mo.; fi\ great-grandchildren, residing in bot Denver, Colorado and Chatham, N.J.
For 88 years, Wilma lived a full, health happy, and content life in Kansas. On many occasions she remarked that sh was just a simple girl from Clay Cente Kan. and could not be more proud of i For everyone who had an opportunity t know Wilma, you are aware of her stron will, vitality, positive attitude and gree smile, which accompanied her kind an thoughtful demeanor. She always thougl: the best of everyone and everything. Sh was a wonderful wife, mother, grand mother and friend to many people in botl Clay Center and Augusta. She will b greatly missed.
Memorials may be given to the Au gusta Public Library in her memory.
