Julia E Fowler, 96
Julia Elizabeth Fowler, 96, of California, Mo., formerly of Augusta, passed
away on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at Moniteau Care Center in California, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the Jamestown Baptist Church with Mr. Kenny Cook officiating. Burial will be at Hickam Cemetery near Lupus, Mo.
She was born on July 11,1917 in Oklahoma City, Okla., the daughter of William W. Fowler and Susie L. (Hickam) Fowler, whom preceded her in death. Julia graduated from Augusta High School in 1935 then Ottawa University in 1940 and The Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, 111 in 1946. She took care of many children at Klingburg Children’s Home in Connecticut, she also enjoyed traveling all over the United States and numerous countries, her bible study, reading and games. She was the Business Womens’s Club Woman of the Year in 1983. Julia was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Augusta, were she helped with many duties in the church. Julia retired with the State Of Kansas Dept, of Human Resources.
She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews and one sister-in-law; Lucille Fowler of Jamestown, Mo.
She was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
Memorials are suggested to the Mis souri Baptist Children’s Home or Murrow Children’s Home c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, Mo.

John P. Watkins, Jr., 67, Augusta, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2013.
Memorial service 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at Headley Funeral Chapel.
John was born in Winfield on Nov. 8,1946, to the late Pansy Ruth (Smith) and John Patrick Watkins. He served in the Army National Guard. John had been a credit manager for SIC Credit Union and Beneficial, an auto salesman for Dick Hatfield Chevrolet, Rod Smith Chevrolet and Goodwill Industries. He also worked for Bill Ledgerwood RV Sales and Prairie State Bank as a branch manager in Mulvane.
He is survived by : sons, John Watkins III and wife Christy of Rose Hill and James Watkins and wife Kathy of Augusta; step-daughter, Tabitha Basgall and husband Aaron of Rose Hill; grandchildren, Ryan, Garrett, Blake and Aaron Watkins; Logan and Sabrina Basgall.
