| Richard W. ‘Dick’ Sage, 89

Richard “Dick” Ward Sage, Jr., 89, of Auguste, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, March 15, 2014.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta Those attending should use the Ohio St. entrance.
Richard was born on Nov. 27,1924 in Augusta, the son of Harriet Helen (Hosick) and Richard Ward Sage. He graduated from high school at Kem- —
per Military Academy in Boonville, Mo., and then went into the U. S. Army, serving as a combat medic in France, Belgium and Germany during WW II. He was awarded a Bronze Star for meritorious service. After returning home, he went to school at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis., where he met his wife Millie (Bolster). After his graduation, they were married on July 7,1951 in Brainerd, Minn, and they returned to Augusta. He went to work for the Coleman Company, holding various managerial positions and retired after 30 years of service. Dick was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed nature and gardening. He also enjoyed politics and
kept up to date with national and world events.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Janet Matthews, Billie Mae Shannon, Harriet Schoeb, and Lucille Whittier.
Survivors include: Millie, his wife of 62 years; daughter, Janet Brinton (Holmes) of Andover; sons, Joe Sage (Pam) of Ft. Worth, Texas and Robert Sage (Dawn) of Rose Hill; grandchildren, Christie Eakin (Adam), Angie Mahl (Jason), Rachel and Ben Louis, Derek and Justin Sage; and 3 great grandchildren, Madison and Kennedy Mahl and Alex Eakin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or St. James Catholic Church Building Fund.

Delores ‘Penny’ Drake, 86

Delores “Penny” May Drake, 86, a resident of Augusta since 2005, and formerly of Indiana, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, March 19,
2014.
A private memorial service will be held.
Penny was bom in East Chicago, Ind., on May 24, 1927 to the late Helen E.
(Saturday) and Sheldon L.Fegely. She worked as a switch board operator and other secretarial jobs. On Oct. 28,1945, she married Horatio D. Garmon, and they had four children. Horatio, her loving husband of 15 years, preceded her in death on Oct. 24, I960. As a young widow, she met James “Jim” W. Drake, who was also widowed. They were married on Aug. 13,1961. Jim was her loving husband, best friend and soul mate of 41 years. He preceded her in death on May 21,2002.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Suzan L. Wells on July 27,1977 Penny was a Christ follower, a lovingwife and mother, and an amazing homemaker. She had a passion for cooking and hosted numerous and “too many to count” gatherings, bringing family and friends together with love, laughter, and lots of fun! She was a past president of the Lady Lions Club of Hammond, Ind., and also a volunteer with the American Legion. Penny volunteered for 15 years at Community Hospital in Munster, Ind. She was a member of Woodmar United Methodist Church in Hammond, and became a member of Central Christian Church in Wichita in 2006. She was loved much and will be missed much.
She is survived by: her daughter, Melody Hopper (Glenn) of Augusta; her sons, Tim Garmon and Randy Garmon, both of Aloha, Ore., and David Drake (Joan) of Medford, Ore.; sisters, Jeanne Allen of Tucson, Ariz., Trish Hollingsworth of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Shelly Schlesinger (Charles) of New York, NY; grandchildren, Tisa Augsburger (Jeff) of Crown Point, Ind., Derrick Schreiber, Kelley Johnson (Jerry), Jessica Meek (Myron), Justin, Angela, and Jamin Garmon, Dustin and Darin Drake; great-grandchildren, Ryan Schreiber, Ali and Jake Schreiber, Mia Augsburger, Jack Allen, Bryce and Brynn Schreiber, Josie Johnson, Morgan, Ashley and Sophie Johnson, Raynee and Devon Meek, Natalie and Ava Williams; step children, many step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Associa-
tion.

Mae Arlene Barnes, 71

Mae ‘Artie” Arlene (Pedersen) Barnes, 71, of Augusta, passed away on Wednesday, March 19,2014.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 24, at Dunsord Funeral Home, Augusta; funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Prairie Hills Baptist Church, 9959 SW Pampas Road, Augusta. Interment at 3 p.m. in Arlington Memorial Cemetery, Midwest City, Okla.
Artie was born Aug. 27, 1942, in Roseville, Calif. She graduated from Midwest City, Okla. High School and lived most of her life in Pauls Valley, Okla. She married Jerry Lynn Barnes in 1967, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Artie worked for Bens Pizza in Pauls Valley before moving to Augusta in 2006, where she was a member of Prairie Hills Baptist Church. She enjoyed her Augusta scooter buddies, being grandma to her neighborhood children, and she loved to fish.
Her survivors include: her husband, Jerry of the home; son, Tim Ragan; daughter, Karen (Brian) Morrison of Pauls Valley; son-in-law, John Smith of Kiowa, Okla.; brothers, John (Susan) Pedersen of Wichita, and Phil Pedersen; sister, Linda (Don) Stonecipher of Chambersburg, Penn.; seven grandchildren, Matt, Marcus and Greg Ragan, Jessie Smith, Amanda Hammond, Jenny and Casey Morrison; nine great-grandchildren, Autumn and James Ragan, Kelsey and Colton Morrison, Jaley and Brook Hammond, Kensley McCray and Crasen East; and many family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mae Pedersen; daughter, Kelly Smith; and a great-grandson, Caden Morrison.
