Velma M. Burke, 87
Velma M. Burke, 87, of Augusta, formerly of Stanton and Red Oak, Iowa, passed away on March 22,2014, at Kansas Medical Center, Andover.
Open viewing from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, and Friday, March 28, at Seller-gren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home in Red Oak, Iowa. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 29,2014, at Tabor Lutheran Church, Wallin, Iowa. Burial in Mamre Cemetery, Stanton, Iowa. Rev. Jerry Lamb will officiate.
Velma Marie Burke, the daughter of Charlie and Elsie (Huddle) Young was born July 22, 1926 at Hepburn, Iowa. She was raised in the Hepburn area and graduated from Stanton High School. She was united in marriage to Elmer M. Burke on Feb. 4,1946 at Hiawatha, Kan. They farmed north of Stanton for many years and moved into Red Oak in 1976. Velma worked several years for Uniroy-al/Parker Hannifin in Red Oak. They moved to Round Rock, Texas in 1985. While in Texas, Velma provided in-home childcare until she was 80 years old. She was a past member of Tabor Lutheran Church at Wallin and currently a member of Palm Valley Lutheran Church in Round Rock, Texas. Velma loved children and her church. She moved to Augusta, in December of 2012 to be close to her daughter and attended Augusta United Methodist Church.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer on April 21, 1997, and sons-in-law, Darwin Olson and Donald Burg, Jr.
Velma is survived by: three children, Nancy Olson of Augusta, Dale Burke and wife, Maureen of Bastrop, Texas, and Lois Burg of Richmond, Texas; 7 grandchildren, Jillaine (Michael) Grimmett, Brenda (Mike) DeHass, Tonya (Rich) Smith, Jennifer (David) Groce, Joelle Lively, Joshua (Jessica) Burg, and Jacob (Jennifer) Burg; 10 great-grandchildren, Gretchen and Hannah Grimmett, Kyn-dal Burg, Nichole, Danielle, McKenzie and Derek DeHass, Ty and Alyssa Smith and Ethan Groce; brother, Carroll Edward Young and wife, Rebecca of Santa Cruz Tlaxcala, Mexico; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Memorials may be directed to the family.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 27 Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2014, both at Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta. Interment to follow in Green Va1 ley Cemetery in Furley, Kan.
Leeter was born Jan.13,1941, to Jair and Ruby (Mash) Thomas in Ada Valk Ark. She married Danny Rex Robbins 6 Aug. 14,1987, in Wichita.
Her survivors include: her motf Ruby Thomas Kennedy of Augusta; sd Lynn (Ernestine) Galloway of Wichi* Billy (Kathy) Wingo of Piedmont, Ok daughter, Debbie (Danny) Holloway Wichita; brothers, John (Patty) Thon of Augusta, Charles Kennedy of Wic ta; sisters, Montine (Melvin) Heinricl Braman, Okla., Wanda Hattaway of^ gusta, Joyce (Bob) Whitson of Angus Lynette (Richard) DuBois of Wichi Brenda (Brad) Willour of Wheatlai Mo. ; nine grandchildren; seven gre, grandchildren.
Leeter was preceded in death by her: ther, James Thomas; spouse, Dan Robbins; and a brother, Jerry Thom*

Elizabeth ‘Seth’ Shanklin, 86
Elizabeth ’’Beth" F. Shanklin, 86, of Augusta, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014 at home in Augusta.
Memorial service 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27,2014, at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Private burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery Augusta.
Elizabeth was born in Manzanola, Colo, on Jan. 1,1928, to the late Minerva (Hopper) and Lloyd Main. She retired as a civil service secretary from Ft. Ord, Calif, after 20 years. On Oct. 23,1965, she married Fred Shanklin in Monterey, Calif, and he survives her.
She is also survived by: son, Mike Shanklin and daughter, Vicki Bowman and husband Chuck, all of Augusta; son, Thomas Henley and wife Barbara of Monterey, Caliv.; brother, William Main of Visalia, Calif.; grandchildren, Timothy Shanklin and wife Nicole of Henderson, Nev., Christopher Bowman of Dutch Harbor, Alaska, Jeremy Bowman and wife Marcie, and Jessica Woolsey and husband Shawn, all of Augusta; 12 greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, John Main and a sister, Dorothy Fite.
