Charles C. Harding, 76

Charles C. ’’Charming Charlie’’ Harding, 76, Augusta, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014.
Visitation 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Graveside service 11 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2014, at Augusta’s Elmwood Cemetery, using 12th St. entrance.
Charles was born in Hill City, Kan. on April 26, 1937, to the late Ellen (Ambrosia) and Cliffton Harding. He retired as a international supervisor from Owens-Corning. Charles was a member of the International Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers Union No. 15 in Wichita and No. 27 in Kansas City, Mo. On May 25,1959 he married Twyla B. (Larcom) Harding, who preceded him in death on April 19, 2011.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Cherry Ball.
He is survived by: son, Brad Harding and wife Rachael of Augusta; daughter, Cindy Payne and husband Jesse of Augusta; brother, John Harding of Medicine Lodge; sister, Judy Baker of Augusta; grandchildren, Hesper Smith (Sean), Monty Harrison, Destiny Harrison, Colton Harding, Mistie Hull (Lance) and Shannan Conway (Joshua); great grandchildren, Karlee Smith, Kallie Smith, Lexi Shaver, Jake Smith, Braydan Pebbler, Taylor Hull, Addyson Cunningham, Shaun Hull, Malachi Cunningham, and Trea and Treavor Conway.

AUGUSTA
Joanne Van, 86

Joanne Van, 86, of Augusta, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014, in Wichita after fighting cancer for over 25 years.
She has been cremated and a memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, Augusta.
Joanne wets born in Ft. Morgan, Colo, on July 17, 1927, to the late Frances (King) and Jerome Travis. She attended public schools in Fort Morgan and graduated from the University of Colorado in 1950. In 1951 she went to Hawaii with some of her sorority sisters (Alpha Delta Pi) where she found employment with the Insurance Rating Bureau. In 1952 she met George Van, a Navy man, and they were married April 25,1953. For the next eight years they lived wherever the Navy sent them until leaving active service in 1961 and settling in the San Francisco Bay area. In 1993 they moved to Lusby, Md., where they enjoyed the activities with George’s Naval academy classmates -Navy football games, etc. In 2005 they moved to Augusta to be near their son, Ed. Joanne was a terrific homemaker, a fantastic wife and a perfect mother. She had a marvelous sense of humor and she and George had nearly 61 years of laughs together.
She leaves her husband, grateful for those wonderful years, and two sons, George (Marlene) of Pacific, Calif, and Ed of Augusta, and her sister, Mary Hansen of Augusta.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Jerry and Thomas Travis.
She will be inumed at the Naval Academy Columbarium in Annapolis, Md. at a date to be determined and will some day be joined there by her loving husband.

Amy R. Adams, 38

Amy Rae Adams, 38, homemaker, Augusta, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014.
Viewing 6 to 8 p.m. riday, April 4, at Headley Funeral Chapel,Augusta; service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Life Church, Augusta.
Amy was born in Wichita on June 21, 1975, to Carol Ann (Frost) and Philip Thomas Courtwright. She was a graduate of Augusta High School and Butler Community College. On July 26,2001 in El Dorado, she married Mark Adams, who survives her.
She is also survived by: mother, Carol Courtwright of Augusta; grandmother, Mary Courtwright of Augusta; sons, Devon Thomas Culp and Zachary Christopher Adams of the home; sister, Julie Renee Courtwright of Ames, Iowa; brother, Eric Wayne Courtwright and wife Joey of Langhorne, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her father Philip; grandparents, Maxine and Wayne Frost and Ray Courtwright.
Memorial donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
