Johnny A. McElmurry, 68

Johnny A. McElmurry, 68, of Augusta, passed away Monday,
September 15,2014. Memorial service 1:30 pm Friday, September 19,
2014, at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Johnny was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on November 4, 1945, to the late Mable (Raley) and Bryant McElmurry. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a crew chief and flight electrician from Hawk-er-Beechcraft. Johnny enjoyed fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Nancy, whom he married on May 27,1989 in Des Moines, Iowa. Johnny is also survived by: sons, James McElmurry Terrell of Mulvane; and Jeremy McElmurry Terrell of Denver, Colo.; daughters, Heather Dauphin and husband Darryl of Rose Hill; Michelle Cooksey and husband Gary; Amy Anglemyer and husband Jay; and Julie Jackson and husband Michael all of Wichita; grand-
children, Brandon and Colton Erwin, Aubrey Cooksey, Lauren and Logan Anglemyer, Jarrod, Jake and Joshua Jack-son and a great grandson, Landon Erwin. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Cheryl Price and Linda Phillips. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Center of Kansas 720 W. Central, El Dorado, KS 67010.

Bill G. Walker, 69

Fire Chief Bill G. Walker, Retired, 69, of Augusta, Kansas passed away Tuesday, September 16,2014 surrounded by family and friends. Bill was born August 25, 1945 in Jefferson City, Missouri and was raised by Fred and Belle Smith in Carrollton, Missouri.
A celebration of Chief Walker's life will be Friday, September 19,2014, at the United Methodist Church, 2420 N. Ohio,
Street, Augusta, Kansas.
Service will begin at 10:00. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery,
Augusta. Headley Funeral Chapel is in charge of the service.
After a long and successful career spanning 47 years in the Emergency Services field Chief Walker retired in December 2010 from Coffey County Fire District #1, where he was Fire Chief/ Administrator since 2000.
At the beginning of his career Chief Walker was the first to be accepted in the State of Missouri to be an EMT; he also held the position of Deputy Chief of the Medical Division in Marshall, Missouri.
Early in 1983 Chief Walker relocated to Hutchinson, where he was the Director of Hutchinson Reno County Emergency Preparedness and the Director and Fire Service Coordinator covering 8 fire areas. Chief Walker also has the distinction of being the First Certified Fire Investigator in the State of Kansas.
In 1993 he became the Fire Chief in Andover for the Butler County Fire District #1. Chief Walker was instrumental in building a new fire station, upgraded personnel from an all-volunteer to a paid department, upgraded equipment and developed a higher level of training. Chief Walker is well known for his motto of "Training, Training, Training".
On July 4,1999 Chief Bill G. Walker and Mary were united in marriage and she survives of the home. He is also survived by: Son, Douglas Walker and wife Leigh, Wichita, Kansas, Daughter, Michelle Sellers and husband Jeff of St Louis, Missouri, Step-sons Wade Waldron Augusta, Mark Waldron and wife Cassandra, Augusta, Kansas. Also left behind are 14 Grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, sisters Edith Harris, Warsaw, Missouri and Nancy Walker, Blue Springs, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are Fred and Belle Smith and a brother, Ralph Walker.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Kansas State Association of Fire Chiefs Training Fund for Chief Officers, Kansas State Association of Fire Chiefs Scholarship or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
