Leota Humbolt Dies At 89
Leota Fern Humbolt, 89, Douglass, died Sunday at a Winfield nursing home.
Her service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Douglass Church of Christ. Gary Nor-tham and Jerry Andrews will officiate and burial will be at the El Paso Cemetery in Derby.
She was born Feb. 21, 1893 in Benton County, Arkansas to Job and Hannah Chance Johnson.
She married Homer Humbolt July 4, 1915 in Douglass. He preceded her in death in 1957.
She was a member of the Rose Hill Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, Paul Humbolt of Mulvane; a daughter, Merlene McCluggage of Douglass; eight grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.
Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass is in charge of arrangements.

Z. Hess Dies In Douglass
Zada Hess, 82, Douglass, died Saturday at Colonial Manor nursing home in Douglass.
Her service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home. Rev. Bill Scott will officiate and burial will be at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Wichita.
She was born Nov. 14, 1899 in Council Grove to Robert James and Ella J. Clement Stewart.
She married Merwyn McIlvain Dec. 16, 1919 in Council Grove. He preceded her in death in 1943. Later she married Benjamin Hess. He preceded her in death.
She was a member of the El Dorado First Baptist Church. She had lived in El Dorado before moving to Douglass three years ago.
Survivors include three daughters, DeWeyne Gustafson of Douglass, LaVeda Graham of Bloomfield, N.M., and Wanda Elaine Smith of Douglass; a sister, Helen Figley of Springfield, Ore.; nine grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren.

Father Dies In Eureka
Verner A. Boone, 89, Neal, father of Myron Boone of Augusta, died Saturday at a Eureka nursing home.
His service will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Campbell Funeral Home in Eureka. Rev. Gary Munion will officiate and burial will be at the Neal Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Neal Community Building Fund.
He was bom March 29, 1892 near Neal to Lennox M. and Nannie Houck Boone.
He married Cessina G. Str-ingham Oct. 1, 1913 in Eureka. She preceded him in death June 30, 1973.
He was a retired farmer.
Other survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth McKenzie of Eureka and Alice Casey of Neal; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
