AUGUSTA
Alvin L. Hicks, 61
Alvin L. Hicks, 61, Augusta, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, after a seven year battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
He was born on Jan. 22, 1954 in Newton, the son of Calvin and
Josephine Hicks, Sr. he attended El Dorado schools. He married Norma
Logsdon on Jan. 22, 1985. She survives.
In addition to his loving wife of 30 years, he is also survived by: niece, Debbie (Rick) Nuessen; nephew, Steve Hicks, all of El Dorado; in-laws, Sherri and Bob Frey and Leroy and Debbie Logsdon, all of Wichita, and Jean Logsdon of Augusta.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Calvin Hicks, Jr.
He will be greatly missed.

Johnnie Graydon Rush, 81
John Rush, 81, of Yukon, Okla., formerly of Augusta, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2015.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Thursday,
June 25, at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Services will be conducted 10 a.m.
Friday, June 26,
2015, at the First Christian Church in Augusta, Kansas.
Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
John was born Feb.2, 1934, in Melbourne, Ark., the son of John Matthew and Della (Finley) Rush. John, as a young man, relocated to Kansas to pursue employment opportunities. It was in Kansas he met and married the love of his life Jimmie Veldonna Nutter on Dec.
23, 1954. John served as a member of the Army National Guard. He worked as a sheet metal specialist for Boeing Aircraft for several years. He later changed professions and was employed by Santa Fe Railroad, where he worked for many years until retiring as a Roadmaster. John enjoyed gardening, fishing, woodworking and spending time with his children and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by: his son, Kevin Rush and wife Melinda of Wichita; daughter, Karen Thummel and husband Alan of Yukon, Okla.: grandchildren, Anna Woodhams, Matthew Thummel, Allison Thummel, Jonathan Rush, and Megan Rush; great-grandchildren, Madison Woodhams, Ashley Woodhams, Emarie Treleaven, and Grayden Ruiz. John also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who he loved very much.
John was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Veldonna; sisters, May Wolf, Ovita White, Eunice Brandon, and Immodene Hadlow; brothers, Ray, Otto, Robert, Hayden, and Otis Rush.
Memorial donations can be made to the First Christian Church, 1600 State Street in Augusta.
