Craig Winter died Saturday
Craig Darr Winter, 33, rural Douglass, died Saturday at his home.
Graveside services were at 1:30 p.m. today at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Lincoln. Rev. Gaylen Burow officiated.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Christ Lutheran Church in Augusta.
A memorial has been established with the Christ Lutheran Church.
He was born Jan. 10, 1952 in Wichita to Alvin L. and Florence Meyer Winter.
He married Ann Harris Aug. 6, 1977 in Americus. She survives.
He was an industrial engineer at Boeing Military Aircraft Co. in Wichita.
Winter earned a bachelors and a masters degree in biology from Fort Hays State College in Hays.
He did research work in Mexico in 1975 and from 1976 to 1969, he worked with the U.S. Soil Conservation Department.
Other survivors include a daughter, Phoebe of the home; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin L. Winter of Wichita, and a brother, Rod of Douglass.
Swisher-Taylor-Morris Funeral Home at Winfield was in charge of arrangements.

Alice C. Myers died at 59
Alice Caroline Myers, 59, Haysville, formerly of Augusta, died Saturday at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral was at 11 a.m. today at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Brooks officiated and burial was in the Fairview Cemetery in rural Augusta.
She was born June 23, 1925 in Downs to Harry Van and Johanna DeBey DeRiet.
She was a sales clerk at the Mode O’Day store in Augusta. She was a Methodist.
Survivors include a son, Jack of Haysville; daughters, Claudia M. Kendall of Haysville, and Karen K. Goodale of Athol, and two grandchildren.

Phyllis Rountree died in Missouri
Phyllis Engle Rountree, 88, Greenfield, Mo., mother of Bob Rountree of Augusta, died Friday in Lockwood, Mo.
Her funeral was at 1 p.m. today at the Greenfield Funeral Home at Lockwood. Burial was in the Greenfield Cemetery.
She was born March 23, 1896 in Dade County in Missouri.
She married Lawrence Rountree. He preceded her in death in 1957.
She was a former Augusta resident. She was a member of the Augusta First Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Other survivors include a son, Frank of Crane, Mo.; a daughter, Dorothy Grant of Riverside, Calif.; a brother. Bryon Johnson of Columbia, Mo.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Olive L. Hill dies in Wichita
Olive L. Hill, 71, Benton, mother of Joanne Patrick of Augusta, died Friday at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. today at the Benton Christian Church. Rev. Calvin Habig officiated and burial was in the Benton, Kan., cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
She was born Aug. 30, 1913 in Towanda to David William and Myrtle Mooney Bloir.
She married Merton Hill Jan. 24, 1933 in El Dorado. He survives.
Mrs. Hill was a member of the Benton Christian Church and Cleophus Club.
She was also a member and past president of the Kansas Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary.
Other survivors include a son, LeRoy of El Dorado; brother's, Clifford Bloir of El Dorado and David Bloir of Wichita; a sister, Venita Bartch of Atlanta; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado was in charge of arrangements.

Leone H. Sims dies at 83
Leone Helen Sims, 83, Route 1, died Friday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral service was at 11 a.m. today at the Cochran Mortuary in Wichita. Rev. Dr. Ivan G. Mattern officiated and burial was in the White Chapel Memorial Gardens there.
She was born Aug. 1, 1901 in Cottonwood Falls to Harm and Anna Cunningham McDowell.
She married Orville E. Sims April 20, 1926 in Wichita. He survives.
Other survivors include a son, Jack of Wichita; sisters, Marjorie Kennedy of Bella Vista, Ark., Grace Devins of Fredonia; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Kenneth Vogt died at 24
Kenneth Leon Vogt, 24, Route 4, died Saturday at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Jim Manning will officiate and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born June 29, 1960 in Tokyo, Japan, to John A. and Mary Green Vogt.
He married Vickie J. Ellis June 2, 1979 in Wichita. She survives.
Vogt worked at the former Helmer Grain Co. of Augusta.
He was a member of the Lakecrest Bible Baptist Church.
Other survivors include a son, Kenny, and a daughter, Melanie, both of the home; parents, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Vogt of Augusta; sisters, Goldie Kingsley and Jackie Brennan, both of Augusta, and Tina Hargus of Hutchinson; grandfather, Leon Green of Douglass, and grandmother, Mabel Vogt of Udall.
A daughter, Mandy Jo, preceded him in death in 1980.
