Vivian Cousins dies in Texas
Mrs. Vivian Cousins, 70, Liberty Hill, Texas, sister of two area women, died at her home Sunday morning.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, at the Church of Christ in Liberty Hill. Burial will be in the Liberty Hill Cemetery.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clint Dooley of rural Douglass. She grew up in the Augusta and Douglass areas, attended Douglass schools and graduated from Douglass High and El Dorado Junior College.
Mrs. Cousins was a lifelong teacher. She taught around Douglass in rural schools and in Whitewater. She did most of her teaching in Victoria, Texas. Her degree was in special education.
Among the survivors are her husband, Dean of the home; two sons, James of Laredo, Texas, and Kenneth of Liberty Hill; sisters, Mrs. Irene Schmidt of Douglass, Eva Ruth Martin of Augusta; a sister-in-law, Maree Eckert of Augusta, four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to Maude Carpenter Children’s Home in Wichita, the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.

Clyde W. Hugo dies at 58
Clyde Wayne Hugo, 58, Route 3, died Monday at his home.
His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the DeVorss Mortuary. Elder William W. Choote will officiate and burial will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Restlawn Cemetery in Coffeyville.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
He was born May 18, 1926 in Altamont to Oral Samuel and Gladys Fern Peffely Hugo.
He married Ruby Irene Bever. She survives.
He was the owner and operator of Hugo’s Lawn Service.
Hugo served in the military during World War II. He was a member of the Sunflower Masonic Lodge 86, the Wichita Scottish Rite and the Wichita Midian Shrine.
Other survivors include a daughter, Saundra Gilbert of Las Vegas, Nev.; father, Oral of Altamont; mother, Gladys Cordell of Coffeyville; brothers, Harold of Parsons, Kenneth and Lloyd of Coffeyville; sister, Hilda Mapels of Dennison, Texas, and three grandchildren.
Allyn McGinnis dies at 56
El Dorado lawyer Allyn M. McGinnis, 56, Towanda, died Monday at his law office in El Dorado.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Friday at the Trinity Episcopal Church in El Dorado. Cremation will precede the service.
A memorial has been established with the Trinity Episcopal Church in El Dorado.
He was born Oct. 9, 1928 in El Dorado to Walter F. and Wannah Mosier McGinnis.
He married Wilma Don Willis June 9, 1951 in Topeka. She survives.
He was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church where he was an active layman
in the church. He was a member of the Patmos Lodge 97 AF&AM Lodge in El Dorado, the Scottish Rite Temple and Midian Shrine in Wichita. He was past president of the El Dorado Lions Club.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
Other survivors include sons, Michael of Sacramento, Calif., Cory at home; daughter, Martha McGinnis of Atlanta, Ga.; stepmother, Erma McGinnis of Mesa, Ariz.; brother, Walter F. of Mission Hills; sister, Polly Sewell of Dallas, Texas.
Ex-Augustan dies at home
James C. Gray Sr., 63, El Dorado, formerly of Augusta, died Monday at his home.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado. Rev. Letha Wood will officiate and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta..
He was born June 11, 1921 in Augusta to Oscar and Ruby Hanley Gray.
He was a laborer. Gray served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include sisters, Irene Ferris and Lucile Gray, both of El Dorado, and five grandchildren.
A son, James Gray Jr., preceded him in death.
Brother dies in Missouri
Scott Banker, 72, Buffalo, Mo., brother of Eldon Banker of Augusta, died Sunday in a Rolla, Mo., hospital.
His funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Buffalo. Burial will be in the Buffalo cemetery.
He was born Aug. 8, 1912 in Plevna to William and Estella Heller Banker.
He was a retired farmer and served with the Air Force during World War II.
Other survivors include sisters, Velma Molz of Syracuse, Opal Fox of Jewett, Mo., and Mary Reed of Indialantic, Fla.
