Minnie Owen funeral today
Minnie Owen, 78, Hamilton, died Friday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
Her funeral was at 2:30 p.m. today at the Campbell Funeral Home in Eureka. Rev. Doyle Ross officiated and burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery at Eureka.
A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association.
She was born Oct. 18, 1907 in Marion County, Ark., to Willard and Molly Purdome Buffington.
She married Carl V. Owen March 16, 1924 in Yellville, Ark. He preceded her in death Dec. 9, 1981.
Survivors include sons, Darien of Roswell, N.M., LLoyd of Wichita and Carl Jr., of Hamilton; daughters, Bernice Kelley of Emporia, Lennie Elliott of El Dorado; brothers, L.W. Buffington of Ontario, Canada and Jack Buffington of Dade City, Fla.; 18 grandchildren including Stephanie Elliott, Randy Elliott, of Augusta, and Dawna Davenport of Andover, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Biddy E. Watt dies at 89
Biddy Ellsworth Watt, 89, Deming, N.M., a retired Mobil Oil refinery worker, died today in Deming.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. Burl Allison Jr., will officiate.
He was born Oct. 22, 1896 in Springhill to Samuel and Lettie Watt.
He married Grace Rogers. She survives.
Other survivors include sons, Robert D. of Coupbille, Wash., and William J. of Deming; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Cecil A. Busch service Tuesday
Cecil Anthony Busch, 91, Route 2, died Saturday at Longton.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the St. James Catholic Church. Father Thomas Stroot will officiate and burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the St. James Catholic Church.
He was born Sept. 7, 1894 in Udall to Michael A. and Anna Bently Busch.
Busch married Emma Pearl Ashworth Dec. 30, 1918 in Wellington. She preceded him in death in 1982.
He was a farmer.
Survivors include sons, John and Lawrence “Larry” of Augusta; daughters, Ruth Manning of Augusta, Lois Hagebusch of Toronto and Emma Noland of Longton; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

Cousin killed in car accident
Pamela Bennett, 35, Ft. Gibson, Okla., and her 8-year-old son, Scott, were killed Christmas Day at Muskogee, Okla.
Funeral services were Saturday.
Bennett’s 10-year-old daughter, Staci Jean, was also in the accident. She survived.
Other survivors include an aunt, Joyce Kester, and cousins, Kevin and Wesley Kester and Deborah Warren, all of Augusta.

Explosion claims former Augustan
Virginia Hada Johnson, 61, Chelsa, Okla., formerly of Augusta, died yesterday at the Hillcrest Medical Center’s burn unit in Tulsa, Okla.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, at the Church of Christ in Tulsa.
Johnson suffered burns over 45 percent of her body when an accumulation of gas was ignited in her home Dec. 11.
Also injured in the explosion was her husband, Warren. He suffered bums over 15 percent of his body. He was treated at the burn center and has been released.
She moved to Augusta with her parents as an infant. She attended the Augusta schools, married Warren Johnson in Augusta and then moved to Oklahoma.
Besides her husband, other survivors include daughters, Kay Johnson of Tulsa, Connie and twin daughters, Joyce and Carol.
A sister, Donna Chappell and a cousin, Ebert Robison, both of Augusta, also survive.
Her husband is staying with Kay Johnson in Tulsa.
Whisenhunt Funeral Home in Tulsa is in charge of arrangements.
