G. Vernon Stoner died at his home
George Vernon Stoner, 73, Route 3, died yesterday at his home.
His funeral will be at 3 p.m. tomorrow at the Downing & Lahey Mortuary in Wichita. Rev. Paul Johnson will officiate and burial will be in the Old Mission Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
He was born Oct. 1, 1912 to Aaron W. and Indiana Bales Stoner.
He married Rosalie Wright. She survives.
He was a Beech Aircraft Corp. production planning supervisor.
Other survivors include a son, Michael of Laguna Beach, Calif.; daughter, Suzanne Allen of Laguna Nigel, Calif.; brothers, Cecil of Wichita, Ivan of Lynnwood, Wash.; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Charlie C. Reinert died in Dodge City
Charlie C. Reinert, 75, brother of Beaulah Moon of Augusta, died yesterday at the Humana Hospital in Dodge City.
His funeral will be at 3 p.m. tomorrow at the Swaim Mortuary in Dodge City.
Other survivors include his wife, Lorene; a son, Kenneth Reinert of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter, Jo Ann Davis of Dodge City, and three grandchildren.
Among those scheduled to attend the funeral are Mrs. Moon, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Alley, Amy and Ashlee and Kristen Martin, all of Augusta.

L.G. ‘Woody’ Wood dies at hospital
L.G. “Woody” Wood, 73, 1208 Euclid, died today at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Ray Gilstrap, associate pastor of First Baptist Church, will officiate and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born Aug. 14, 1912 in Grenola to Jerry Jink and Mollie Tindle Wood.
He married Kathleen Love Sept. 22, 1935 in Hutchinson. She survives.
He owned Wood Locker Plant in Augusta before his retirement. He was a Baptist, a member of the Mystic Tie Lodge 74 and the Wichita Consistory.
Other survivors include sons, Merlin of Augusta and Lonnie of Wichita; daughter, Yvonne Rogers of San Antonio, Texas; brother, Jim of Nowata, Okla.; sisters, Aline Bacus of Grenola, Othello McSpadden of Moline,
Genece Jones of Wellington and Marjorie Hammond of Wichita; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Kathryn Shell dies at 72
Kathryn Shell, 72, Leon, died Wednesday.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Leon United Methodist Church.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
Survivors include her husband, John; son, John W. of Leon; daughters, Mavis Troutman of Wellington, Elaine of East Hartford, Conn., Joyce Peden of New Plymouth, Idaho; Linda Poulter of Latham; sisters, Lucille Smerchek of Valley Falls, Malvis Kooser of Puyallup, Wash.; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

W.H. Wilkinson dies in California
William H. Wilkinson, 71, San Jose, Calif., brother of Betty Lietzke, Edna Boyer and Thelma Tornquist, all of Augusta, died Wednesday at a hospital in River-more, Calif.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. tomorrow at the Santa Clara Funeral Home in Santa Clara, Calif. A Navy Honor Guard will participate.
He was born Sept. 18, 1914 in Caney to W.H. and Jennie Brooking Wilkinson.
He owned and operated service stations in San Jose.
He served on submarines in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Other survivors include his wife. Delores; a son, Mike of San
Jose; daughters, Barbara Wilkinson of San Jose, Serena Wilkinson of Manteca, Calif., and another sister, Stella Bluebaugh of Portland, Ore.

Alva W. Strait dies in Virginia
Alva Wayne Strait, 65, Blackstone, Va., the son of Mary and the late Frank Strait Sr. of Augusta, died Sunday at a Veterans Hospital in Richmond, Va.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Hamin-McMillan Mortuary in Blackstone.
This farm worker was born Feb. 12, 1920.
Strait spent his youth in Augusta before joining the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Other survivors include his wife, Sophia of Blackstone; a sister, Geneva Peterson of Wichita and brother, Frank S. Strait Jr., of West Palm Beach, Fla.
