H.D. ‘Sam’ Snider died in El Dorado
Huburt Dale “Sam” Snider, 49, Towanda, died today at the Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Dunsford Funeral Home.
He was born March 20, 1936 in Wichita to George C. and Alice Sheppard Snider.
He married Carolyn Dennett July 2, 1955 in Augusta. She survives.
He was a lease operator from Becker Corporation.
Other survivors include sons, Mike of Fort Collins, Colo., and Steven of Towanda; a daughter, Kathy Pratt of Towanda; brothers, Merle of Winfield, Leonard of Phoenix, Ariz., and Duane of Oklahoma City, Okla.; sisters, Jennie Thompson of Brighton, Colo., and Louise Bybee of Littleton, Colo., and four grandchildren.

Roy H. Johnson died Wednesday
Roy H. Johnson, 79, Jetmore, formerly of Towanda, died Wednesday at a nursing home there.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado. Rev. Harold Jones and Rev. Bill Bullard will officiate and burial will be in the
Towanda Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Hodgeman County Long Term Care Nursing Home, in care of the Carlson Funeral Home.
He was born Nov. 23, 1906 in Engles to Sherwood F. and Louisa Lamb Johnson.
He married Viola May Jones Dec. 10, 1928 in Augusta. She survives.
He farmed north of Augusta before moving to Towanda where he was a heavy equipment operator.
Other survivors include sons, Harold of Ness City, Stephen of Hutchinson and Jerry of Yukon, Okla.; daughters, Karen McBride of El Dorado, Sharon Herndon of Rose Hill; a brother Ray of Macksville; sisters, Nellie Johnson of Pratt, Eda Cook of Haviland; 13 grandchildren, and a great-grant child.

Ross E. George dies in El Dorado
Ross E. George, 67, El Dorado, brother of Dwane George of Augusta, died yesterday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado. Rev. Allan Holtz will officiate and burial will be in the Sunset Lawn cemetery in El Dorado.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
He was born Aug. 11, 1918 in Oklahoma to Herman C. and Ethel Whittle George.
He married Dorothea Peterson Nov. 13, 1943 in Alliance, Neb. She survives.
He was an employee of the Triangle Drilling Co. in El Dorado where had worked as a driller and tool pusher before he retired.
He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Other survivors include daughters, Cheryl Van Wey of Parsons, Helen Moore of El Dorado, Janet Oswald of Conway Springs, Kathy Moore of Rosalia, Vicki Penwell of Leon; brother, Vernon of Wichita; sisters, Hazel Porter of Goff, Marjorie McDaniel of Centralia, Jean Smith of Spokane, Wash., Ludema Scott of Harroudsburg, Ky. Madene Fernkoff of Holton, Lucille Kirk of Sabetha and Joan George of Holton; 11 grandchildren.

Dan Dwyer funeral in Wichita
Daniel J. Dwyer, 32, 1603 Sunset, died Wednesday from a gunshot wound suffered while driving his car near 21st Street and Grove in Wichita Tuesday evening.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Magdalen in Wichita. Rev. Dan Spexarth will officiate and burial will be in the White Chapel Memorial Gardens. The rosary will be at 7:30 tonight in the Downing & Lahey Mortuary in Wichita.
A memorial has been established with Crime Stoppers, Box 18639, Wichita, Kan., 67218.
A memorial fund has been established for the Dwyer family at the First National Bank in Wichita.
He was born April 22, 1953 in Wichita to William M. and Ella M. Descher Dwyer.
He married Patricia M. Hester. She survives.
He was a glass installer for Safelight Auto Glass in Wichita.
Other survivors include sons, Joseph Robert, Howard Joseph, both of the home; parents, William and Ella Dwyer of Wichita; brothers, Michael of Singapore, China, Patrick of Wichita; sisters, Diana Miller of Wichita, Susan of Winter Haven, Fla.
