Dorothy P. Lytton dies, funeral is tomorrow
Dorothy Pauline Lytton, 63, wife of appliance businessman Robert Lytton Sr., died Sunday at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 o’clock tomorrow morning in the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel here and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Bill Murrey and Randy Armstrong will officiate.
Mrs. Lytton was an active wife, mother, businesswoman, and grandmother. She seldom complained and went through life with an “everything will always turn out okay” outlook.
She and her twin sister, Dora Catt, were born Aug. 20, 1922 to Walter and Lulu Kennedy Singer.
Dorothy graduated from Augusta High School in 1940.
On Oct. 27, 1941, she married Robert A. “Bob” Lytton Sr. in a ceremony here. From that marriage came six children.
During World War II, Mrs. Lytton worked at Drain’s Drug Store in downtown Augusta. She was a co-founder of Lytton’s Inc. in 1953 which operated an office supply store here until last year. She worked several years in that business by herself and will be remembered by some in the community as a seller of license tags from 1968 to 1970.
“She was always a very pleasant person to deal with,” said longtime Augusta businessman Clovis Cash who also commented that she was a “very industrious person.”
"Dorothy was always there when she was needed,” recalls neighbor Elizabeth Ryan. “She taught a Bible School class, helped with Vacation Bible School and assisted with meal preparations at the church.”
"Dorothy got along with everyone and loved everyone,” Ryan said. “She will be missed.”
DOROTHY LYTTON .. .died in Wichita
Before her death she was an active member of the Augusta Soroptimist Club and served as that organization’s president during the 1968-69 year.

As for personal interests, Mrs. Lytton enjoyed playing and watching golf, traveling in the United States and taking cruises abroad.
In addition to her sister and husband, Mrs. Lytton leaves four sons: Robert Lytton Jr. and Tim Lytton, both of Augusta, Shawn Lytton and Brent Lytton, both of Wichita; a daughter, Margo Lytton Roberts of Wichita; a brother, Harley Singer of Lebanon, Mo., and her mother, Lulu Singer of Augusta. One daughter, Alyson Lytton Marchese, preceded her in death.
