Brother Dies At 78
Everett Jordan, 78, Douglass, brother of Lorene Ellis of Augusta, died Sunday.
His service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Ford-Wulf-Burns Colonial Chapel in Cof-feyville.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
Other survivors include a daughter, Delphia Frisbie of Grove, Okla.; brother, Fred Jordan of Wichita, and two other sisters, Iva Hensley of Wichita and Onie Wood of Bernice, Okla.
Ex-Augustan Dies In Newton
Merton Wheeler, 87, Newton, formerly of Augusta, died Saturday at the Friendly Acres Care Home in Newton.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Towanda cemetery. Rev. Lynne Smith and Rev. Larry Smith will officiate.
He was born Feb. 19, 1895 in Towanda to Bert and Lora Wait Wheeler.
He married Esta Stewart. She survives.
He was a retired grocery store employee.
He was a member of the Winfield Methodist Church.
Other survivors include Wayne Wheeler of Orange, Calif., and Rev. Gerald Wheeler of Haysville; a daughter, Evelynne Smith of Newton; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Peterson Funeral Home in Newton is in charge of arrangements.

Gladys Marie Chase, 76, Plains, formerly of rural Augusta, died April 21 in Meade.
Her service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Central Baptist Church, west of Santa Fe Lake on 21st Street. Rev. August Kubish will officiate. Burial will be in the Augusta In-dianola Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church beginning at 10 a.m. this Wednesday.
A memorial has been established with the Lone Tree Lodge Nursing Home in Meade.
She was bom Dec. 8, 1905 in Columbus to Mahlon D. and Ora A. Johnson Bond.
She married Athol C. Chase Sr., Dec. 8, 1925 in Haviland. He preceded her in death Aug. 27, 1968.
Survivors include two sons, Athol Chase Jr., and Rusty Chase, both of Plains; a daughter, Coeta Green of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Barclay Bond and Ed Bond, both of Wichita; four sisters, Louisa Shipler, Grands Pass, Ore., Bess Osbourn of Wichita, Lillian Gause of Riverbank, Calif., and Mae Tabor of Lansing, Mich.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Fidler-Orme Mortuary in Meade is in charge of arrangements.
Ex-Augustan Dies At 87
Ruby A. Reed, 87, Joplin, Mo., formerly of Augusta, died Friday.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
Survivors include a brother, Roy Tway, Joplin.
The Mason-Woodward Funeral Home in Joplin is in charge of arrangements.

Brother Dies In Oregon
John W. Banker, 79, Her-miston, Ore., brother of Eldon Banker of Augusta, died Saturday at his home.
His service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Elliott Mortuary in Hutchinson. Burial will be in the Plevna, Kan., cemetery.
He was born Sept. 28, 1902 in Reno County to Williard and Estella Heller Banker.
He was a retired carman for the Union Pacific Railroad.
Survivors include sons, Robert Banker of Rolla, Kan., Don Banker of Harrisonville, Mo., Carl Banker of Hermiston, Ed Banker of Boise, Idaho, and Walter Banker of The Dalles, Ore.; daughters, Bernadine O’Neal of Eudora, Jacqueline Collins of Dumas, Texas, Nan Mattern of Cadiz, Ohio; other brothers, Vern Banker of Arlington and Scott Banker of Ur-bana, Mo.; sisters, Mary Redd of Indialantic, Fla., Thelma Molz of Syracuse and Opal Fox of New Rumley, Ohio; 27 grandchildren; five step-grand-children; 20 great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
Ex-Augustan Dies In Colorado
Mary Beth Johnson, Greeley, Colo., died there April 13.
She and her husband, Dr. Dana Johnson, lived in Augusta before moving to Colorado.
He attended grade school and high school in Augusta when his parents, Rev. and Mrs. L.R. Johnson, resided here. Rev. Johnson was pastor of the Augusta First Baptist Church for seven years.
