Jewell McConnell died in Wichita
Jewell D. McConnell, 65, Wichita, stepfather of Chris Thiel of Douglass, died Tuesday at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral will be at 3 p.m. tomorrow at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Wichita. Dr. George Housewright will officiate and burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association.
He was born Nov. 6, 1920 in Colorado to John and Mary Ludwig McConnell.
He married Anna Hagen. She survives.
McConnell was an assistant supervisor at Cessna Aircraft Co. in Wichita. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Survivors also include a son, Richard of Wellington; daughters, Billie A. Lopez of West Germany, Carol Deakins, Janet, both of Wichita; stepson, Jerry Irion of Norwalk, Calif.; another stepdaughter, Odetta Ford of Wichita; sisters, Anna DuBois of Halstead, Marge Ruttman of Denver, Colo., and 14 grandchildren.

Norman Boehner died at 70
Norman M. Boehner, 70, Los Angeles, Calif., brother of Carmen Orlowski of Augusta, died Tuesday.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Rindt-Erdman-Oldroyd Funeral Home in Arkansas City.
He was an accountant and a former Arkansas City resident.
Other survivors include an adopted daughter, Li-Chu Cheyan of Los Angeles; brother, Lawrence W. of Orem, Utah; another sister, Emma Belle Bottomley of Arkansas City, and two grandchildren.

Laura A. DeWitt died in Wichita
Laura Ann DeWitt, 63, rural El Dorado, mother of Augustans John Clayton DeWitt, Leanna Rose Gordon and Cindy Williams, died Saturday at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. William McCarey will officiate and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Augusta chapter of the American Diabetes Association.
She was born Feb. 6, 1923 in Rose Hill, Okla., to William R. and Henrietta Ethel Capps Maggard.
She married John Henry DeWitt March 17, 1939 in Lyons. He preceded her in death in 1982.
Mrs. DeWitt was a member of the Nazarene church.
Other survivors include a son, Jimmie Franklin DeWitt of Benton; daughter, Ethel Ann Thompson of Towanda; stepdaughter, Gloria Cheesborough of Everett, Mass.; brothers, Samuel Maggard and Norman Maggard, both of Augusta, Frank Maggard of Dennard, Ark.; sisters, Bessie Cowles of Augusta and Ann Genter of Leon, and 21 grandchildren.

Harley R. Boucher died in Arkansas
Harley Ross Boucher, 72, Broken Bow, Okla., brother of Raymond Boucher of Augusta, died Saturday in DeQueen, Ark.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Burl Allison Jr. will officiate and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born Oct. 12, 1913 in Augusta to Harley O. and Flora Iola Theetge Boucher.
He married Belle F. Knupp. She preceded him in death in 1975.
He was a retired Oklahoma State Park employee.
Other survivors include a brother, Earl of Lamar, Mo., and a sister, Beulah White of Kenoma, Mo.
A son, Jimmy, and a sister, Ethel Broomfield, also preceded him in death.

Rachel I. Stackley died Thursday at 84
Rachael Irene Stackley, 84, Cedar Point, mother of Wilma Hamilton of Augusta, died Thursday in Hutchinson.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. today at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church near Bums. Rev. Kent Rogers will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Reno County Hospice, in care of the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls.
She was born Jan. 3, 1902 in Whitewater to Amos and Rachael Corfman Cheseman.
She married Paul Stackley Aug. 28, 1918 in El Dorado. He preceded her in death.
She worked at Boeing Military Aircraft in Wichita during World War II. She also worked as a cook at the Matfield Green schools.
Other survivors include a son, Richard of Hutchinson; daughters, Mary Van Buren of Cedar Point and Marge Scobee of Strong City, Paula Fruci of Londonderry, N.H.; brothers, Milton Cheseman, Charles Cheseman, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A son, Paul Kenneth Stackley; a brother, John, and a grandson, George Scobee, also preceded her in death.
