Earl V. Kennedy died at 90 in Winfield
Earl V. Kennedy, 90, Winfield, died Monday at a hospital there.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Miles Memorial Chapel in Winfield. Rev. Corey Rowley and D.L. Harguess will officiate. Burial will be in the Wilmot Cemetery near Winfield.
A memorial has been established with the Prairie View United Methodist Church.
He was born Oct. 24, 1895 in Atlanta to Stephen V. and Ollie J. Roberts Kennedy.
He married Laura Lanier April 3, 1918 in Winfield. She preceded him in death in 1971. He married Alta Throckmorton King on June 24, 1972 in Atlanta. She survives.
Mr. Kennedy was a retired farmer and stockman. He was active in soil conservation groups including the Timber Creek Watershed Association. He was also rural chairman for the Northern Cowley Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Other survivors include sons, Otis and Paul, both of Atlanta; a daughter, Pauline Jones of Atlata; stepsons, Bob King of Temple City, Calif., Dan King of Fort Collins, Colo., Berwin King and David King, both of Winfield; stepdaughters, Lou Cravens of San Antonio, Texas and Delia Kennedy of Atlanta; eight grand-children and many great grandchildren.

James L. Daniels
James L. Daniels, 50, Garden City, brother of Judy Turner of Augusta, died Sunday.
His funeral was a 10 a.m. today at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado.
He was a retired truck driver.
Other survivors include his wife, Helen; son, John Thomas of Garden City; stepsons, James Parker of Vail, Colo., Stanley Parker of Garden City, Roger Neace of Orlando, Fla.; stepdaughters, Elizabeth Parker, Carolina Bumheart, Jewell Sizemore, all of Leadville, Colo., Debbie Matthews of Garden City, Barbara Daniels of Elk City, Okla.; parents, Paul of Edith Cooper of Towanda; step brother, John Cooper of Hutchinson; other sisters, Barbara Daniels, Mary Gaither, both of Houston, Texas; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren ___

Nora Shearer died in Wichita
Nora E. Shearer, 94, Wichita, great aunt of Linda Skelton of Augusta, died Thursday at Riverside Hospital in Wichita.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Culbertson- Smith Mortuary in Wichita. Joe Wooton will officiate and burial will be in the Wichita Park Cemetery.
She was born Aug. 12, 1892 m Harrison, Ark., to Samuel and Harriet Plumlee Dodson.
She married Dr. James Lee Shearer. He preceded her in death in 1975.
Other survivors include a brother, Virgil Dodson of Wichita; sisters, Lydia Trollinger of Fayetteville, Ark., and Josephine Sisco of Orange, Calif.

Gertrude Metsker died Friday at 87
Gertrude M. Metsker, 87, Rose Hill, mother of George Metsker of Augusta, died Friday at a Derby nursing home.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. today at the Rose Hill United Methodist Church. Rev. Paul Johnson officiated and burial was in the Douglass Cemetery.
She was born May 6, 1899 in Douglass to George and Minnie DeFore Richardson.
She married William Roy Metsker. He died in 1958.
Other survivors include a son, Paul of Wichita; sister, Bessie Kay of Atwood; three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Freeman Seward died Saturday
Freeman M. Seward, 78, Eureka, brother of Wayne Seward of Leon, died Saturday at the Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Campbell Funeral Home. Rev. Phyllis Garrett will officiate and burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery there.
A memorial has been established with the Regency Health Care Center in Eureka.
He was born Nov. 29, 1907 in Leon to Freeman W. and Cora Paker Seward.
He married Creta Palmer Dec. 15, 1928 in Leon. She survives.
Mr. Seward was a retired farmer and stockman. He was a member of the Joppa Masonic Lodge in Leon and past president of the Greenwood County Cattlemen's Association.
Other survivors include a son, Freeman G. of Shawnee; daughters, Patricia Brookover of Coffeyville, Lauretta Frakes of Eureka; sister, Ruby Brown of Cheney; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Larry D. Book Sr. died Saturday
Larry D. Book Sr., 44, El Dorado, died Saturday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Church of the Nazarene in El Dorado. Rev. Garry Wright will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in the Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka.
A memorial has been established with the Larry D. Book Sr. Memorial Fund in care of the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado.
He was born Dec. 12, 1941 in Eureka to Cleo A. and Anna Huston Book.
He married Judith A. Gates Feb. 20, 1970 in Wichita. She survives.
Mr. Book was a student at Butler County Community College in El Dorado. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and served with the Army National Guard in Vietnam.
Other survivors include sons, Larry Jr. and Lyle, both of the home; mother, Anna Book and a sister, Betty Meade, both of Andover.
