BRADLEY LINK ...died yesterday
Two more teenagers involved in a car-van crash northeast of Augusta late Monday afternoon have died.
Funerals for 16-year-olds Kristy Payne of Augusta and Brad Link of El Dorado are scheduled for Friday.
Payne and Link died yesterday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita as result of injuries they suffered in the accident at an unmarked intersection of two county roads about a mile east of the Augusta Drive-in Theatre.
Jacque Hoefgen, 15, of Augusta, was killed in the accident. Her funeral will be tomorrow afternoon in the Augusta High School auditorium.
According to sheriff's office reports, the car, a Ford escort, and a van, also a Ford, collided at the intersection around 4:30 p.m. Monday. The car was southbound and the van was eastbound. Both vehicles were demolished.
Dwane Spies, 15, of Leon, was reported as driver of the van and Paige Wilson, 16, of Augusta, was identified as driver of the automobile.
Link was a passenger in the van. Payne was a passenger in the car. Link was reportedly pinned under the van following the collision and Payne was thrown from the car.
Spies and 17-year-old Mike Schill, of Leon and a passenger in the van, were treated and released for their injuries at Augusta Medical Complex following the accident

Wilson was admitted to AMCI for treatment of her injuries and released from the local hospital today.
The boys in the van had reportedly visited a friend and were on their way back to Leon when the accident happened. The girls, all varsity cheerleaders at the local high school, had also visited a friend and were returning for a cross country meet.

Rosary Tonight At Church
A rosary will be recited for Jaqueline Kay Hoefgen at St. James Catholic Church, State & Clark, at 7 o’clock this evening.
Father Thomas Stroot of St. James Church will officiate at a funeral mass in the auditorium of Augusta High School at 2:15 p.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hoefgen of 1209 Bobbie Street Friday Morning Funeral
A funeral service for Kristina Marie Payne will be conducted in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church, State and Kelly, at 11 a.m. Friday. Rev. Frank Miller of the First Church of the Nazarene will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 3, 1970 in El Dorado to Stephen LeRoy and Frances Elizabeth Turner Payne.
In addition to her parents, she leaves four brothers, Stephen Wayne Payne of Lumberton, Texas, Thomas LeRoy Payne and Jesse Lee Payne, both of Augusta, and Donald Jerald Payne of the home at 2017 Cron Street; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Don Gilliland of Wichita and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Turner of Augusta.
Memorials to the Cheerleaders Scholarship Fund in the name of Hoefgen and Payne are suggested. Those gifts can be left at the Citadel Bank of Augusta as well as Prairie State Bank of Augusta.

Friday Afternoon Funeral
Link’s funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Bluestem High School at Leon. Burial will be in the Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery at El Dorado.
He was born March 22, 1970 in El Dorado to Chuck and Janice Marie Gann Link.
The BHS junior was on the football and wrestling teams. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and working on his pickup truck.
Besides his parents, he leaves a brother, Greg Link of El Dorado; grandparents, V J. and Mildred Link of Piqua; great-grandmother, Callie Gann of El Dorado; a sister-in-law, Julie Link of El Dorado; five uncles and four aunts.
A memorial has been established with the Bluestem High School Athletic Department.
The Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta has charge of the arrangements for Hoefgen and Payne.
The Kirby-Morris Funeral Home of El Dorado has charge of the Link arrangements.

A grandfather also survives
The funeral for Kristina Payne, 16-year-old daughter of Stephen LeRoy and Frances Elizabeth Turner Payne, will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the First Baptist Church in Augusta.
Besides her parents and other survivors listed in The Gazette yesterday, she leaves a grandfather, Emmitt Payne of Missouri.
