Floyde ‘Pick’ Straw died at 83 yesterday
Floyde Elwood “Pick” Straw, 83, Benton, brother of Catharine Walker of Augusta, died Wednesday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Burl Allison Jr. will officiate and burial will be in the Towanda, Kan., cemetery.
He was born June 27, 1903 in Towanda to Frank and Carrie Verne Cupp Straw.
He married Ivy Evelyn Campbell in El Dorado in 1934. She preceded him in death April 11, 1981.
Mr. Straw was a welder at Cessna Aircraft Company in Wichita before he retired. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World; enjoyed bowling and was an avid fisherman.
Other survivors include daughters, Sondra of Klamath Falls, Ore., Ramona L. Catherwood of Ulysses, a sisters, Verna Berna of Atlanta and a grandchild.
Two brothers, Herschel and Cecil, and a sister, Adah Worthington, preceded him in death.
A memorial has been established with the Kansas Special Olympics, 3202 W. 13th, Wichita, Kan., 67203.

Stepmother died
Winnie L. Mackey, 84, Newton, stepmother of Louis Carpenter of Augusta, died Jan. 1.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. today at the Peterson Funeral Home in Newton. Rev. Fred Spinder officiated and burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
She was bom Sept. 18, 1902 in Texas to W.H. and Telitha Lewis Atwood.
Other survivors include a sister, Lillie Moore of Texas.

Rosa A. Kramp died Wednesday
Rosa A. Kramp, 87, Ellin-wood, sister of Barbara Apel of Augusta, died Wednesday at a hospital in Ellinwood.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellinwood. Father John Maes will officiate and burial will be in St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Cemetery.
She was born July 18, 1899 in Selina, Ohio, to Mathias and Agnes Schaefer Heyne.
She married George Kramp April 17, 1923 in Ellinwood. He preceded her in death in 1956.
Other survivors include a son, Roger of Ellinwood; daughter, Rachel Little of Wichita; sisters, Clara Whitney and Monica Robl, both of Ellinwood, Sister Caroline Heyne of Wichita, Alfreda Miller of Kinsley, Margaret Knorr of Claflin; seven grand-children and 10 great grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with St. Joseph Catholic School Endowment Fund and the Heritage Club.
The Kimple Funeral Home in Ellinwood is in charge of arrangements.
