Augustan’s sister dies in Missouri
Opal Witt, 78, Warrensburg, Mo., sister of Leonard Lininger from Augusta, died Monday, May 2.
A memorial service will be held in Warrensburg at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 5. Burial will follow in the cemetery at Bucyrus, Kan.
Survivors include her husband Irwin; daughters Betty Reynolds of Anaheim, Calif., and Shirley Asbury of Irving, Texas; a son Darrell of Warrensburg, and several grandchildren.
Lloyd J. Calhoun dies at hospital
Lloyd J. Calhoun, 89, Wichita, father of Ellen M. Catlin from Augusta, died Sunday, May 1, at the St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
His funeral service will be 2 o’clock Weddnesday afternoon, May 4, at the Livingston Funeral Home in Kingman and burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery near Belmont.
He was born April 12, 1899 at Murdock as a son of Joseph and Flora Worrell Calhoun.
On Jan. 19, 1923, he and Majel Chaney were united in marriage. She survives.
Calhoun was a member of the United Methodist Church, Wichita Lodge 99 AF & AM, and the Scottish Rite Bodies.
In addition to his wife and daughter, Calhoun leaves a son, Milton of Wichita; three daughters, Norma Jean Meredith of Harper, Betty Krehbiel of Kingman, and Beverly Buttram of Terlton, Okla.; a sister, Zelma Christopher of Lebanon, Mo.; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Augustan’s mother dies at hospital
A graveside service for Hazel Wilson, 75, Wichita, father of Gayler Wilson of Augusta, was held Monday, May 2, at the Wichita Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Wilson died Thursday, April 28, at the HCA Wesley Medical Center.
This homemaker was born Nov. 12, 1912 in Wichita as a daughter of Eli and Mary Briggs Nusbaum.
She married Edward D. Wilson in 1930. He preceded her in death in 1946.
In addition to the son here, Mrs. Wilson leaves two other sons, Harvey of Wichita and Harley Francis of Corpus Christi, Texas, four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Juanita M. Houchin died April 28
Juanita Mae Houchin, 72, Fredonia, mother of Dale Houchin of Augusta, died Thursday, April 28.
Her funeral was Monday, May 2, at the First Christian Church in Fredonia.
In addition to the son here, she leaves other sons, Jerry of Wichita, Jimmie of Carlsbad, N.M., Ray of Wichita, William of Oak Harbor, Wash., Larry of Wichita, Alonzo of St. Helens, Ore.; a daughter, Alice Eshbaugh of Fredonia; brothers, Glen of Fredonia, Arthur Jr. of Wichita; sisters, Pearl Barker of Fredonia and Betty Chaffin of Puyallup, Wash.; 32 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
Memorials to the American Heart Association and/or the American Cancer Society have been suggested.
