Chesba R. Ray died Saturday
Chesba Rachel (Roberts) Ray, 83, of Augusta, died Saturday, Sept. 9.
Her services will be held in the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel at 1 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Harold Kieler officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born to William R. and Mary Jane Clapp on July 20, 1906 in Hamilton. On Dec. 11, 1982 she was united in marriage to Joe E. Ray in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Survivors include her husband, Joe E.; son, John D. Roberts of Wichita; step-sons, Bill Bolin, Gary Bolin, both of Garden City, Buddy Bolin of El Dorado; step-daughters, Florence Mayfield of Chanute, Virginia Evans, Blanche Pickett, both of Wichita Falls, Mary Lois Kingham of Tecumseh, Okla.,
Delores Newby of Plattsberg, Mo.; brother, Loyd Clapp of Wichita; four grandchildren; 20 step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Ray, a member of Order of the Eastern Star and the First Methodist Church, was a former teacher in the Augusta public school system, Plaza Hardware, and Augusta Daily Gazette employee.
A memorial has been established with the First United Methodist Church building fund.
The arrangements are with Dunsford Funeral Home.

Former Augustan died on Saturday
Former Augustan G.R. “Dick” Heironimus, 58, died in Lawrence Saturday, Sept. 9.
His services will be Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock in the Warren-McElwaine Mortuary chapel, Lawrence. A private burial will follow the service in the Clinton Cemterey.
He is survived by his wife, Penny; five sons, Dorian of Arlington, Va., Richard M. of Wichita, Julian N. of Springhill, Brent D. of Lawrence, Adrian B. of Topeka; three daughters, Georgea L. deMedina of Whitehall, Pa., Athena D. Heir of Belton, Mo., Renata H. Beeghly of Topeka; his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. George C. Heironimus of Cressline, Calif.; sister, Bonnie L. Fuller of Pittsfield, Mass.; brother, Harold E. of Saudi Arabia; four stepdaughters, Karen Sizer of Sugar-grove, Ill., Lynn Ross of Topeka, Debra Berger of Leesville, La., Amalia Anderson of Overland Park; and 10 grandchildren.
Heironimus owned a studio in Lawrence and taught woodwind instrument lessons. While living in Augusta he worked for Boeing Military Airplanes and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Warren-McElwaine Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

Lipscomb rosary will be Tuesday
Augustan John Richard “Dick” Lipscomb, 68, died Saturday, Sept. 9, at Augusta Medical Complex.
A rosary for the retired Mobil Oil employee will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening in the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel. His services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the St. James Catholic Church with Father Jim Billinger officiating. Burial will follow at the Walnut Valley Cemetery in El Dorado.
He was born to Thomas Herbert and Grace Lipscomb in El Dorado on July 19, 1921. On June 22, 1946 he married Dolores Irene Simmons in Wichita.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores; sons, Richard G. of
Wichita, Dennis G. of Augusta; daughters, Jeanne Brooks, Dana Pavey, both of Wichita, Michele Schaefer of St. Louis, Mo; brother, Leo of Augusta; sister, Louise Baker of Andover; 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
Lipscomb was a member of the St. James Catholic Church and the El Dorado Moose Lodge.
Memorials are to Butler County Hospice and St. James Catholic Church.
Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
