Richard Knebler died on Oct. 2
Richard F. “Dick” Knebler, 67, Andover, died Monday, Oct. 2.
A harvest rosary was recited by Father Mike Baldwin Wednesday evening, Oct. 4. Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 5, at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church in Andover and burial was at the Calvary Cemetery in Wichita.
Knebler was born Oct. 3,
1921 in Schulte as one of six children of John and Anna Knebler.
He graduated from Andover High School and entered the army in 1942. Knebler served overseas during World War II with the 166th Anti-Aircraft Gun Battalion. He was discharged Dec. 31, 1945.
On Sept. 24, 1946, he married the former Virginia C. Curry. She survives.
Knebler, a farmer in the Andover area most of his life, worked for L.A. Knebler Construction Co. about 33 years before he retired in 1985. He loved the land.
Survivors include his wife Virginia of Andover, son Kenneth of Wichita; daughter, Deborah Dolecek and grandson John Dolece of Andover; brothers, Leo Knebler of Andover and L.A. “Tubby” Knebler of Augusta; sister Irene Morrison of Wichita; two stepgrandsons, Ron and Jim Dolecek of Wichita.
A memorial has been established with the St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church Building Fund in Andover.
DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.

Steven Ralston funeral in Texas
Steven C. Ralston, 39, Dallas, Texas, died Monday, Oct. 9, in Dallas. He was the son of Glen and Maxine Ralston and grandson of Jennie Ralston, all of Augusta.
His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Trinity Church in Dallas.
Steven was born April 11, 1950 to Glen and Maxine Laughlin Ralston.
He worked as accounts manager at Southwest Dallas Hospital.
In addition to his parents and grandmother, he leaves two sisters, Susan Jabara of Wichita and Linda Finn of St. Joseph, Mo.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society have been suggested.

Mattie Guest funeral was held today
A funeral service for Mattie Guest, 88, of Augusta, was held this afternoon at the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel and burial was in Elmwood Cemetery. She died Friday, Oct. 13, at Augusta Medical Complex.
This homemaker was bom March 11, 1901 in Grantville as a daughter of William O. Wright and Anna F. Keller Wright.
On Sept. 5, 1920, she married Harold T. Guest in a ceremony at Wichita. He preceded her in
death in 1972.
Survivors include two daughters, Jane Fennell of Augusta and Jean Porter of Santa Ana, Calif.; three sons, Ed Guest of Grove, Okla., Bill Guest of Wichita, and Jack Guest of Santa Ana, Calif.; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Memorials to the Augusta Meals on Wheels project are suggested.
