Polk funeral services to be Friday in Douglass
Funeral services for Jay W. Polk, 33, Mesa, Ariz., will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Douglass Cemetery.
Polk is a former resident of Douglass. He died Sunday, Nov. 5.
Survivors include two sons, Billy Polk and Jayson Polk, both of Arizona; two daughters, Tara Polk of Arizona, and Selena Polk of Douglass; parents Bill and Janet Polk of Douglass; a brother, Jeff Polk of Rose Hill; a sister, Janell Dillner of Mulvane; and grandparents Ruth Thomas of Rock, Dorothy Polk Shaver, and Bill and Austie Graves, all of Douglass.
Smith-Hilyard Funeral Home in Douglass is in charge of arrangements.

Services for Schneider to be Friday at church
Mary E. Schneider, 70, Augusta, died Tuesday at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim Billinger officiating. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
She was born Nov. 8, 1918 in Ancon, Panama Canal Zone to Flora Mayer and Neil Maclean. On May 18, 1940, she married George Loranzo Schneider in Wichita. He preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 1977.
Survivors include four sons, John Schneider of Lawrence, Alan and Chuck Schneider of Augusta, and Richard Schneider of Rose Hill; a daughter, Donna Peckham of Rose Hill; a brother, Louis McLean of East Moriches, N.Y.; two sisters, Flora Dissonnette of Lompoc, Calif, and Jean Johnson of Monrovia, Calif.; and 13 grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established with St. James Catholic Church.

Willard Stewart funeral Saturday
Services for Willard W. Stewart, 87, Wichita, were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Old Manor Baptist Church in Wichita. Burial was in the Douglass Cemetery.
He died Wednesday, Nov. 8 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Stewart was born Nov. 12, 1901 in Douglass to James Stewart and Mattie Bare.
Survivors include his wife, Alberta of Wichita; a son, John Stewart of Wichita, brothers Cyril Stewart of Augusta and James A. Stewart of Douglass: a sister,
Vera Novak of Wichita; three grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with the Old Manor Baptist Church and the Shriners’ Hospitals for Crippled Children.
The Broadway Mortuary is in charge of arrangments.

Karr I. Dryden funeral held
Funeral services for Karr I. Dryden, 93, Oskaloosa, were at 10 a.m. today in the Presbyterian church in Oskaloosa.
He died Friday, Nov. 10, at an Oskaloosa nursing home. Burial was today in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Oskaloosa.
Dryden worked as a driller in the oil fields for many years and moved to Oskaloosa from Colony in 1942. In his later years, he was a farmer and stock trader.
Dryden was born Nov. 26, 1895 in Altoona to William and Elizabeth Estburn Dryden.
On Oct. 11, 1916, he married Flossie Merl Lamb in Neodosha. She preceded him in death Nov. 12, 1976.
Survivors include two sons, Marion Dryden, Augusta, and Everett Dryden, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four daughters, Edith Murray of Lenexa, Doris Dodson and Elma Luthye, both of Topeka, and Irma Butler, Harveyville; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
The Hampton-Battett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
