Margaret Varner service Monday
Homemaker Margaret Leslie Varner, 86, Augusta, died Thursday, Nov. 23, at Augusta Medical Complex.
A graveside funeral service has been scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, at Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. Burl Allison Jr. will officiate.
She was born June 26, 1903 in Neodesha as a daughter of Leslie Strickland and Nellie Matson Strickland.
On Aug. 21, 1926, she married Cloyd Martin Varner in a ceremony at El Dorado. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Varner leaves a son, Lawrence Varner of Mt. Holly, N.J.; two daughters, Margaret Rawlings of Augusta and Esther Bewley of Andover; eight grandchildren, Mike Rawlings and Kevin Rawlings of Augusta; Lynette Gold of Salina, Pamela Smith of Russell, Kimberly Belisle of Wichita, Denice Ellis, Dennise Varner and Michael Varner of Mt. Holly, N.J., and nine great-grandchildren.
The Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

Elmer Chalfant of Leon dies in Wichita
Funeral services for Elmer Chalfant, 80, Leon, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, at the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado.
He died Monday at the Northeast Health Care Center in Wichita.
He had worked for Skelly Oil in El Dorado for 37 years and was a member of the Prospect Baptist
Church in El Dorado.
Survivors include his wife, Elva of the home; a son, Robert Chalfant of Wichita; a daughter, Janice Sue Riley, Augusta; a sister, Eva Chalfant of Augusta; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Hospice of Butler County.

Greisen services to be Thursday in Springfield
Esther Greisen, 88, Springfield, Mo., died Friday, Nov. 24.
Greisen was a former Augusta resident.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at the Calvary Assembly of God Church, Springfield.
Greenlawn North Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jennings dies
LaVada Jennings, 89, died Wednesday, Nov. 22.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, at the Carter-Smart Funeral Chapel.
She was born May 5, 1900 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. On Dec. 14, 1920, she married Walter F. Jennings in Sulphur, Okla.
Survivors include a daughter, Jo Lene J. Moore, Augusta; two grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.
A son, Bob Jennings, preceded her in death in 1986.

Clay services today
Funeral services for Kate Clay, 76, were at 3 p.m. today at the Hinton Owens Funeral Home in Loganville, Ga.
She died Monday, Nov. 27. Survivors include Dr. James E. Clay of Augusta.
