Snodgrass services were Thursday
Retired mathematics instructor John J. Snodgrass, 91, Valley Center, died Monday in Wichita.
Services were 2 p.m. Thursday at the Furley United Methodist Church, the Rev. Robert Gleason officiating.
Following the service, burial followed at the Green Valley Cemetery in rural Furley.
Snodgrass was born Nov. 22, 1898 at Gordon to Lora Mae Palmer and Robert L. Snodgrass.
He had taught mathematics at various public school systems and was a retired math instructor at Wichita State University.
Suvrivors include his wife, Ruth, of the home; daughter Sarah Snodgrass of Furley; brother Palmer of Shawnee Mission; sister Ina Elliott of Augusta.
He was a member of the Furley United Methodist Church.
Suggested memorials are with the church and the Wheat State Manor Nursing Home in Whitewater.
Lamb-Nutter Mortuary in Whitewater is in charge of arrangements.
Helen Scobbe died Monday in Wichita
Homemaker Helen Scobbe, 49, rural Augusta, died Monday, Feb. 19, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witnesses in rural Augusta. Following will be graveside services at Lakeview Cemetery in Wichita.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Scobbe; sons John of Augusta, Loyd of Denver, Colo; stepdaughter Cheryl Foster of Wichita; brothers Robert, Clarence and Marion Dennett, all of Augusta; and four step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Joe Lee Newman, and two daughters, Annetta Lyn and Cathy LuAnn Newman.
Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Hobkirk of Rose Hill dies today in Wichita
Gardener Orville J. Hobkirk, 72, Rose Hill, died today at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Beaumont Cemetery in Beaumont, the Rev. M.E. Abraham in charge of arrangements.
Hobkirk was born Mary 7, 1917 in Beaumont to Lora E. Wright and Charles W. Hobkirk.
Survivors include brothers Philip of Wichita and Ray of Rose Hill; and sister Lois Clark of Wichita.
A memorial has been established with the Heritage Village Nursing Home in Rose Hill.
Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Margie A. Smith dies at St. Francis
Margie A. Smith, 78, Wichita, died Friday, Feb. 23, at St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita.
She was a former Augusta resident.
Services were 2 p.m. Monday at the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado. Internment followed at the McGill Cemetery.
She was born Nov. 24, 1911 at Perryville, Ark., to Elmer R. and Minnie Lovell Pritchett. She has lived in Wichita since 1977. She was a practical nurse and had worked at West Link Christian Chruch in child care for seven years. She was a member of that church.
Smith was also a member of a pinochole club, Welcome Wagon, and served as a 4-H leader for the Cole Creek 4-H Club.
She married Wayne H. Smith on Feb. 4, 1931 at Perryville,
Ark. He preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 1976.
Survivors include two sons, Edwin Smith of Kopperl, Texas, Terry Smith of Augusta; two daughters, Virginia Kimball of Augusta, and Betty Byfield of Andover; a stepson, Gene Smith of Newton; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Spoon of Lyons; brothers, Homer Britchett, Lakeport, Calif., Bill Britchett, Loleta, Calif., and Norman Britchett of Clearlake, Calif.; sisters Erma Richards of Weiser, Idaho, and Irene Wilsie of Lotela; a grandchild; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a son.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Foundation and the Kidney Foundation.
