Colleen R. Herrin dies Oct. 30 in Wichita
Colleen R. “Cody” Herrin, 55, El Dorado, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.
She had lived in Augusta from 1956 to 1962.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado.
Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery in El Dorado.
Herrin had been a paraprofessional aide for Jefferson Elementary School, El Dorado.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
On Nov. 18, 1956, she married Richard Herron in Winfield. He survives.
Other survivors include a son, David of Overland Park; mother, Maxine Guest of Wichita;
two brothers, Ed Guest of Wellington, Steve Guest of Denver, Colo.
A memorial has been established with the Beta Sigma Phi sorority Nursing Scholarship Fund.

Father of Augustan dies Wednesday
Retired Sears, Roebuck & Co. salesman Philip P. Phelan, Wichita, died Wednesday, Oct. 31.
He is the father of Augusta resident Paul Phelan.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. tonight at the Downing & Lahey Mortuary.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Church of the Magdalen, Wichita.
Other survivors include his wife, Jeanette; daugthers, Joan Kristin Phelan of Wichita,
Kate Phelan of Baltimore, Md.; three grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.

Marjoria Jackson service today
Retired secretary Marjoria G. Jackson, 71, El Dorado, died Thursday, Nov. 1.
She was a member of the Augusta Order of the Eastern Star.
Funeral services were today at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado.
Burial was in Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.
Jackson was born Jan. 5, 1919 in Haverhill to Jim & Augusta Nixon-Greer.
Jackson lived in Butler County all of her life, and married Jesse Jackson on Oct. 17, 1942 in El Dorado.
Survivors include husband, Jesse of the home; three daughters, Jane Dunn and Sara Westcott of Tulsa, Okla.,
Anna Jackson of El Dorado; a brother, John Greer of Topac, Ariz.;
a sister, Mary McKenna of Huntington Harbor, Calif.; seven grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.


Father of Augustan dies Sunday
Wayne Blanke. 57, Russell, died Sunday, Nov. 4, at Russell Regional Hospital.
He is the father of Augusta resident Penny Ozbun.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pohlman’s Mortuary, Russell. Burial will be in the Russell Cemetery.
Blanke was born Dec. 11, 1932, in Nowata, Okla., to Herman & Grace Mae (Mason) Blanke.
On April 4, 1952, he married Helen Louise Williams. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Michael B. of Russell; daughter, Dickie Trask of McPherson;
brothers, Kenny of Russell, Jack of Great Bend, Dan of Carlsbad, Calif.; two grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with the Russell Regional Hospital and the Shrine Bum Centers.

Stanley J. Spingler funeral Tuesday
Retired Wichita fire investigator and retired White Chapel Memorial Gardens maintenance foreman Stanley J. Spingler, 74, Valley Center, died Friday, Nov. 2. He is the stepfather of Larry Bentz of Augusta.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hillside Funeral Home, Wichita.
Survivors include is wife, Gladys; daughter, Pamela of Wichita; stepdaughters, Arzana Rucker of Eagle, Colo.; Rebecca Smith, Debra Pufahl, both of Wichita; brother, Ken, sisters, Cora Ellis, Arlene Jones, all of Dolgeville, N.Y.; 11
grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Hospice, Inc.
