Augustan’s mother dies in Bedford, Ia.
Luella Rachel Dunn, 83, Bedford, Ia., mother of Ellen Dougherty of Augusta, died this week at a nursing home there.
Her funeral service was yesterday at the Shum-Novinger Funeral Home in Bedford and burial was in the Conway Cemetery.
Mrs. Dunn was bom March 6, 1907 in Lexington, Mo.
She graduated from Bedford High School in 1925.
Mrs. Dunn worked for several Bedford businesses before becoming deputy county treasurer of Taylor County.
She was a charter member of the Wild Rose Club in Bedford.

Edward ‘E.D.’ Gaskill funeral Saturday
Simpson & Assoc. Construction superintendent Edward “E.D.” Gaskill, 60, Augusta, died Tuesday, Nov. 6,
in the Eureka Hospital emergency room.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Quiring-Old Mission Mortuary, Wichita.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie L.; five sons, Eddie B., Larry D., Danney L., all of Wichita,
Clifford E. Tatum of Augusta, Brian L. Grimes of Augusta;
two daughters, Virginia Couch of Wichita, Cheryl M. Gilbert of Newton; a brother, Earl Gaskill of Gladwin, Mich.,
a sister, Etta Hildreth of Willows, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.


Father of Augustan dies Wednesday
Retired Cessna Aircraft Co. employee Frank Moore, 56, Wichita, died Wednesday', Nov. 7.
He is the father of Augusta resident Patricia Edwards.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Lakeview Funeral Home, Wichita.
Other survivors include his wife, Josephine; daughters, Tina, Becky, Julie, Connie Grindle, all of Wichita;
brothers, Wesley of Springdale, Ark., Robert, Jack, both of Chanute;
sisters, Elsie Dillow, Irene Dillow, Norma Lee Kraft, Berniece Shields, all of Chanute,
Sue Gilliland of Rogers, Ark.; five grandchildren.

Lawrence McCaffree services today
Retired farmer Lawrence E. McCaffree, 80, Augusta, died Friday, Nov. 9.
Funeral services were today at the United Methodist Church, Leon.
Survivors include sons, Larry of El Dorado, Keith, Ken, both of Wichita; brother, Kenneth of Seattle, Wash.;
nine grandchildren; three-great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the United Methodist Church, Leon.
Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado is in charge of arrangements.

Alice ‘Allie’ Rains dies Thursday
Alice “Allie” Rains, 97, Augusta, died Thursday, Nov. 8.
Funeral services were today at the Strode Funeral Home, Stillwater, Okla.
Survivors include a son, Willis Beryl of Wichita; a sister, Edythe Smith of Austin, Texas;
three grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren.

Leona May Thompson services Tuesday
Leona May Thompson, 70, Wichita, died Friday, Nov. 9, at home.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elmwood Cemetery.
Thompson was born June 10, 1920, in Arcadia, to Nellie Mae Prettyman and George Sylvester Wade.
On Oct. 10, 1955, she married Kenneth Edward Thompson in
Miami, Okla. He preceded her in death in 1967.
She was a member of the Glenville Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons, Kenneth Thompson and Arthur Ramey, both of Wichita;
brother, James Wade of Wichita; nine grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren.
Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements

Father of Augustan dies Saturday
Marion Dougherty, 79, father of Jerry Dougherty of Augusta, died in Bedford, Iowa, on Saturday, Nov. 10.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the First Baptist Church in Bedford, Iowa.
He was a retired bulldozer operator.
Other survivors include his wife, Ruth; sons, Max, Robert and Don; and a daughter, Karen.
