Helmer L. Turnquist dies Saturday
Retired sheet metal worker Helmer L. Turnquist, 97, Augusta, died Saturday, Nov. 10.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elmwood Cemetery.
Turnquist was born July 20, 1893, to Peter Turnquist and Helen Carlson in Mille Lacs Lake, Minn.
On Nov. 1, 1920, he married Treva Bowerman in Milaca, Minn.
Survivors include wife, Treva; son, Richard of Lathrop, Calif.; daughter, Joyce Knapp of Augusta;
five grandchildren, including Chuck and Mary Knapp of Augusta.
Preceding him in death were brothers Charles, Gustaf, Culley, Frank and John; and sisters, Emma and Esther.
A memorial has been established with the First United Methodist Churh, Augusta.
Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Retired beautician Annie D. Busbee, 71, Augusta, died Thursday, Nov. 8.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Southern Baptist Church, Augusta,
the Rev. George Goudie officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Busbee was born April 20, 1919, in Flethcer, Okla., to Annie Hager and Oscar James Tilley,
In February of 1959, she married Allen R. Busbee.
Survivors include a husband, Allen; sons, Bill Wallace of Augusta, Michael of Seattle, Wash.;
a daughter, Patricia Berger of Seattle; brothers, Joe Tiley of Columbus, Ohio, Ted Tiley of Lemoore, Calif.;
sister, Tobi Lindsey of Avondale-Goodyear, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a daughter, Betty Whitlatch; a brother, L.C. Tilley; and a sister, Nell Chapman.
A memorial has been established with the First Southern Baptist Church.

Retired methods engineer at Boeing in Wichita Edwin J. “Jim” Horning, 82, Caney,
died Sunday, Nov. 11, at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Okla. Horning is a former Augusta resident.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church in Caney.
Graveside services will be 3 p.m. at the Moline Cemetery.
Horning was born Sept. 6, 1908, at Moline to Henry and Katie Urban Horning.
On May 28, 1933, he married Leonia DeMoss in Independence.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Caney, the Caney Lions Club and
Christian Men’s Prayer Breakfast Fellowship.
Survivors include his wife, Leona of Caney; daughters Nancy Landry of St. Rose, La.,
Kay Visnic of Mt., Vernon, Ohio;
a brother, Walter of Daytona Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with the First Christian Church and the American Cancer Society.
Graves Funeral Home, Caney, is in charge of arrangements.
