Helen V. Hunter
Helen Vemice (Walker) Hunter, 68, Augusta, died Sunday, Nov. 18, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Wichita.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Rose Hijl United Methodist Church.
Hunter vtas born March 14,1922, in Cherokee, Okla., to Edward and Vera Walker.
On June 19,1965, she married Donald Hunter in Wichita. He preceded her in death on Feb. 11, 1988. -
Survivors include a son, Steve White of Wichita; two daughters, Nikki Meyer of Ames, Okla.,
Tanis Olson of Wichita; a stepson, Larry Hunter of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a stepdaughter, Donna Hunter of Arrow;
sister, Ruth Belcher of Cherokee, Okla.; eight grandchildren; one greatgrandchild;
two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren.
Smith Mortuary in Derby is in Charge of arrangements.
Memorials have been established with the United Methodist Church, Rose Hill,
and the St. Joseph Medical Center Oncology Fund.

Sister of Augustans dies Thursday
Stella Blubaugh, 80, Portland, Ore., died Thursday, Nov. 22.
She is the sister of Augusta residents Velma Tomquist, Edna Boyer and Betty Lietzke.
Funeral services are pending. Burial will be in Danville.
Lorene M. Myers dies at hospital
Lorene M. Myers, 85, Haven, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the Halstead Hospital. Myers was a former Augusta resident.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at the Haven United Methodist Church.
Burial will be 11:45 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Myers was born Oct. 17,1905 in Marion, Ind.
On Sept. 19,1941, she married Clement “Deke” Myers in Augusta. He preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 1987.
She retired in 1964 as secretary of Haven Grade School.
She and her husband moved to Haven from Augusta in 1941.
Myers was a member of the Haven United Methodist Church, the
Order of the Eastern Star as a past matron and lifetime member and was a Girl Scout leader for many years.
Survivors include a daughter, Jenney Valdois of Haven; a grandchild; one greatgrandchild.
A memorial has been established with the Haven UMC.
Cantwell-VanCampen Funeral Home, Haven, is in charge of arrangements.
Alford Wedel
Leslie Alford Wedel, 80, rural Augusta, died Monday, Nov. 19, at home.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at Dunsford Funeral Home,
the Rev. Howard Friesen officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Valley Cemetery, El Dorado.
Wedel was born Sept. 16,1910, in Halstead to Elizabeth Nightingale and Pete C. Wedel.
On Feb. 23,1936, he married Alice May Becker in Hutchinson.
Survivors include his wife; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Leslie & Janet Wedel of Detroit, Mich.,
Phillip K. & Linda Wedel of El Dorado; daughter, Phyllis K. Gillum of El Dorado;
sisters, Katie Koehn of Colorado, Pauline Woodall of Washington; six grandchildren; three, greatgrandchildren.
Preceding him in death were four brothers, Jack, Rudy, John and Hilkie;
four sisters, Dina Koehn, Freda Cearley, Alice Redinger and Anna Ratzlaff.
He had been an aircraft worker and farmer and was a member of the Cumberland Community Church.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
